Understanding Headaches the Ayurvedic Way
Ayurveda teaches that everything in the body is ruled by three doshas — Vata, Pitta, and Kapha. Each one has its own qualities and tendencies. When they go out of balance, they show up as different types of pain.

Vata: Dry, light, cold. A Vata-type headache feels like a throbbing, shifting ache. It often appears during stress, after too much travel, or irregular sleep.

Remedies by Headache Type
Migraine: Cooling the Fire
Migraines are fierce. Sharp, often one-sided, and sometimes come with nausea or visual disturbances. Ayurveda sees them as a mix of Pitta and Vata imbalance.
Remedy: Try a lemon shot before meals:

Hypertension & Pressure Headaches: Cooling the Flow
High blood pressure and Pitta-related headaches feel like a heavy band or pulsation around the head. They’re often worse during stress or heat.
Remedy: Drink celery cucumber juice.
Both ingredients are deeply cooling and hydrating. They balance Pitta, support healthy circulation, and calm the nervous system. One glass daily can make a noticeable difference.
Full-Head Heaviness: Lightening the Weight
A headache that feels like a block — heavy, sluggish, like your head is filled with water — is classic Kapha imbalance.
Remedy: Eat fresh pomegranate.
Pomegranate is light, astringent, and stimulating. It wakes up Agni (digestive fire), clears Kapha’s stagnation, and refreshes your mind. Make it part of your breakfast or a mid-day snack.
Lifestyle: The Forgotten Medicine
Ayurveda reminds us that no remedy works without the right lifestyle. Daily routines and small habits are more powerful than medicine itself.
