Gas and constipation are common issues associated with your condition, and they often indicate imbalance in Vata dosha and impaired agni (digestive fire). Considering your history and recent complications like Pan Colitis, Here’s how you can address the issue effectively with Ayurvedic practices.

Start by chewing a small piece of fresh ginger with a pinch of salt before meals; ginger can stimulate agni and help in better digestion. It’s crucial to keep your meals warm, cooked, and easy to digest; avoid cold and raw foods for now. Seasonal and local vegetables like bottle gourd, ridge gourd, and pumpkin are gentle on the digestive system, so include them in your diet.

For relief, take a teaspoon of Triphala powder with warm water before bed. Triphala is known to cleanse the colon and help with chronic constipation. If you find powder difficult to consume, you can opt for Triphala tablets or capsules.

To reduce gas, use a carminative formulation like Hing (asafetida) mixed with warm water. Dissolve a pinch of it in a small amount of water and drink it. Cumin seeds too could aid digestion; try simmering a teaspoon of cumin seeds in a cup of water, straining, and sipping it slowly after meals.

Hydration plays a vital role, so aim to drink warm water throughout the day. After waking up, consume a glass of lukewarm water; this can help stimulate bowel movement. A few sun salutations or gentle Tadasana (Mountain pose) and Pawanmuktasana (Wind-Relieving pose) practices will also improve gastrointestinal functions.

Avoid processed foods, caffeine, alcohol, and limit dairy intake, as these can provoke Vata. Balance rest and activity; establish a regular routine—wake up by sunrise and ensure you get at least 7-8 hours of sleep.

Consult with an Ayurvedic practitioner before starting or stopping any treatment, and consider booking an appointment with them to personalized plans aligned with your constitution and conditions further.

Understanding your concerns, constipation and gas suggest an imbalance in Vata dosha, especially around the Apana Vata which governs elimination. Post-Pan colitis, it’s crucial to maintain a gentle yet effective approach to restoring balance, especially focusing on Agni, the digestive fire.

Firstly, adhere to a regular eating schedule; missing or delaying meals can disturb Vata further. Incorporate cooked, warming foods like soups, stews, and khichadi with ghee to lubricate the intestines. This will aid in smoother elimination and help alleviate constipation. Start your day with a glass of warm water srinkling it with a little lemon and honey; it’s known to gently stimulate your digestive system and promote bowel movement.

Herbal formulations like Triphala churna taken at bedtime with warm water improve bowel movements naturally without causing dependence. Be cautious with dosage, start with 1 teaspoon and adjust based on how your body responds. Also, consider taking Bhringaraja rasayana which aids digestion and rejuvenates intestinal tissues, rebuild strength after your colitis treatment.

Engage in daily practices that calm the mind and body, like gentle Yoga (especially postures like Pawanmuktasana and Vajrasana) and Pranayama to regulate breathing, enhance digestion and relieve pelvic tension which exacerbates gas and constipation.

If symptoms persist, consulting with a Siddha-Ayurvedic practitioner locally who can customize a treatment plan is worthwhile. It’s essential to continue monitoring any discomfort, and if severe, it may indicate a need for immediate care from a qualified healthcare professional.
