Burning and reflux starting after infections like COVID and norovirus is commonly seen because these infections disturb the stomach lining and its protective barrier and also affect gut motility and acid regulation so even if health is otherwise good the stomach becomes sensitive and reactive for some time Gastritis in this phase means the inner lining of the stomach is inflamed and needs soothing healing and protection rather than strong medicines or heavy foods because the tissue is already irritated Avipattikar Churna half teaspoon at bedtime with warm water helps reduce excess acidity and supports gentle digestion without irritating the stomach Eladi Choornam half teaspoon twice daily before food with warm water helps in reducing inflammation and soothing the gastric lining Externally simple practices like sipping warm water through the day instead of cold water helps in stabilizing digestion avoid lying down immediately after food and keep a gap of at least two hours Diet should be very simple and soothing for few weeks include soft rice moong dal khichdi boiled vegetables thin buttermilk avoid spicy fried sour fermented foods coffee tea on empty stomach and completely avoid packaged and junk food because these delay healing Include small amounts of ghee in food as it helps in protecting the stomach lining eat in small frequent portions instead of large meals and chew food properly because improper digestion increases reflux Avoid triggers like very spicy food citrus excess tomato onion garlic in raw form and very hot temperature food as these can irritate already inflamed lining

This is a common pattern after infections like covid and norovirus where the stomach lining becomes sensitive and inflamed leading to burning and reflux it is mainly a pitta aggravation with weak digestion but it can be healed well with proper care you can start with avipattikar churna half teaspoon with warm water twice daily after food amruthotharam kwath 15 ml with equal warm water twice daily before food and Alasctil tablet twice daily after food Take small frequent meals avoid spicy fried sour and packaged food avoid tea coffee on empty stomach include soft warm foods like rice moong dal khichdi boiled vegetables Do not lie down immediately after food keep a gap of at least two hours and sip warm water through the day with consistent care the inflammation will reduce gradually and your stomach lining will heal over few weeks and reflux will settle naturally

Namaste, Post-infection gastritis (after COVID or viral illness) can cause persistent burning and reflux, as the digestive system becomes sensitive and weak for some time. Simple measures that may help: Eat light, soft, and easily digestible food like rice, moong dal, boiled vegetables, and porridge. Avoid spicy, fried, sour foods, tea, coffee, and packaged items. Take small, frequent meals instead of long gaps. Drink warm water, and avoid very hot or very cold foods. Do not lie down immediately after eating; keep a gap of 2–3 hours. Include soothing foods like buttermilk with roasted cumin or plain cooked rice water. Since your symptoms started after infections, the gut usually heals gradually with proper care and diet. Ayurvedic medicines sometimes used to support healing include: Avipattikar Churna – traditionally used to reduce acidity and support digestion. Kamdudha Ras – sometimes used to soothe gastric irritation and burning. Consult me for more advice and suggestions on the above medicines.

Ayurvedic Prescription 1. Yashtimadhu (Licorice Root) Powder Dosage: 1/2 teaspoon twice daily. Time: 30 minutes before meals, mixed with a little plain water. 2. Kamadudha Ras (Plain) Dosage: 1 tablet twice daily. Time: Take it together with the Yashtimadhu. 3. Guduchi (Giloy) Satva Dosage: 1/4 teaspoon (approx. 250mg) mixed into the same combination above. Dietary Guidelines for Mucosal Repair Stop the Triggers: For the next 3 weeks, strictly avoid common vegetarian triggers: tomatoes, chilies, citrus fruits, vinegar, and fermented items (like yogurt or dosa batter). These will irritate the exposed lining. The Healer: Drink half a glass of fresh Ash Gourd (Winter Melon) juice every morning on an empty stomach. It is highly alkaline and accelerates the healing of the stomach lining. Meals: Stick to soft, mushy, and cooling foods like Khichdi, rice gruel, and steamed vegetables with a small amount of Cow’s Ghee. Regards Dr Gursimran Jeet Singh MD Panchakarma
