What is causing my right side chest pain that feels like squeezing and radiates to my shoulder? - #53482

I am really worried cause I've been feeling this weird pain on the right side of my chest for like the past week. It started off kinda mild, just a little ache here and there. Thought maybe I slept the wrong way or pinched something, you know? But then it got worse and now it feels like this squeezing sensation sometimes, and I really don't know why my right side of chest is paining like this. I've tried some deep breathing and stretching, but nada! I’m also noticing that the pain sometimes radiates a bit to my shoulder or even my back, which freaks me out a little. I did go to a doc who checked my heart and said everything looks fine, but still, I can’t shake off this worry. I just keep thinking, why my right side of chest is paining? Is it muscular or something, or could it be more serious? I mean, I’m only in my thirties and try to stay active, but sometimes, I get these random stress moments too with work and all. Should I be trying some Ayurvedic remedies? Like, is there something that can help with chest pain or should I just be taking it easy? Any advice would be helpful! Thanks!

Hello, I understand how unsettling persistent chest pain can be, especially when it starts radiating. While it is reassuring that your doctor cleared your heart, “squeezing” sensations always warrant a cautious approach. In Ayurveda, chest pain (known as Hridshoola) is often viewed through the lens of a Vata imbalance. When Vata (the energy of movement) becomes aggravated—often due to stress, irregular routines, or “Amavata” (toxins)—it can cause constriction and radiating pain in the muscles and nerves of the chest and back. Since your cardiac workup was clear, this could be related to musculoskeletal strain or even gastric issues (like “Udavarta”) where upward-moving gas mimics chest pressure. For a Vata-dominant condition involving squeezing pain and stiffness, the focus is on calming the nervous system and relaxing the muscles. 1. Dhanwantharam Thailam: Warm this oil slightly and apply it gently over the right side of your chest, shoulder, and back. Follow with a warm compress. This is excellent for nerve and muscle relaxation. 2. Dhanwantharam Gulika: Take 1 tablet twice daily after food with warm water. It helps balance Vata and is traditionally used for respiratory and chest discomfort. 3. Balarishtam: Take 15 ml to 25 ml mixed with an equal amount of lukewarm water, twice daily after meals. This acts as a restorative tonic for nerves and muscles.

Symptoms which you describe above is due to the vitated vata dosha which circulating in the channels of Plasma and muscle tissue So we will focus on to pacify bata dosha and Nourish the muscular tissue and manage the stress induce tension 1) Dhanwantharam Kwatham - 15 ml with warm water 30 minute before breakfast and dinner 2) Ksheerabala (101) Capsules- one capsule after breakfast and dinner with milk or warm water 3) Balarishta- 20 ml with equal amount of water 20 minute after lunch and dinner 4) Manasamitra Vatakam- one tablet with warm milk 1 hour before bedtime 5) Dhanwantharam Thailam- apply on your chest and back 30 minutes before bath 👇👇👇👇👇👇👇 Ensure all meals are freshly cooked and warm. Cold or frozen foods further aggravate Vata. Include small amounts of Ghee or Sesame oil in the diet Use rice, wheat, and quinoa. Avoid drying grains like millet or corn for now. Incorporate ginger, cumin, and garlic to improve digestion and reduce Amavata (metabolic toxins). Practice alternate Nostril Breathing for 10-15 minutes Taking a 5-minute walking break every hour is necessary to prevent muscle “squeezing.” Maintain a consistent sleep-wake cycle to stabilize Vata. Aim for 7-8 hours of restful sleep.

I’m glad you got your heart checked—that’s the first and most important step. Since that came out normal, we can think more calmly and systematically about the cause. From your description: right-sided chest pain (not left) squeezing/aching, sometimes radiating to shoulder/back constant, not clearly triggered by exertion high stress + sedentary lifestyle what you should do now (practical plan) 1. Apply warm compress on painful area (15 min, 2x/day) avoid pressing or poking the area repeatedly take proper rest from strain 2. Posture correction (very important) don’t sit continuously >45–60 min keep screen at eye level shoulders relaxed, not hunched 👉 this alone fixes many such cases 3. Gentle exercises chest opening stretch (doorway stretch) upper back strengthening deep breathing (slow, not forceful) 4. stress management (key in your case) 10–15 min daily: anulom vilom slow diaphragmatic breathing 👉 this reduces chest tightness significantly Ayurvedic support ✔ internal Sutshekhar ras → if acidity/stress component Arjunarishta → supports cardiac + stress axis ✔ external Mahanarayan taila massage on chest + upper back
