The condition about the chronic ulcerative colitis you mention about is mostly related to Rakhta or Pitta and vata dosha which is clearly pointing towards Rakhta atisar or pittaj grahni. So we will have to focus on soothing cooling and healing the intestinal mucosa also reduce the frequency of Bowel movement. 👇👇👇👇👇👇👇👇 1) Guluchyadi Kashayam - 15 ml with 45 ml lukewarm water twice daily 30 minutes before food 2) Manasollasam Vati -1 tablet wise daily after food 3) Guggulutiktaka Ghritam- 1 teaspoon once daily with lunch 4) Dadimashtaka Churna- 3 gram with buttermilk twice daily after food 5) Kutajarishta- 20 ml with equal water twice daily after food 👇👇👇👇 Take freshly prepared buttermilk with roasted jeera powder and dry ginger with your lunch Take boiled mashhed raw banana pomegranate juice Strictly avoid caffeine alcohol carbonated drinks avoid spicy and excessive salti food eliminate the raw vegetable salads from your food limit dairy products except butter milk and small amount of ghee Drink water boiled and cool at room temperature throughout the day Ensure adequate amount of physical rest Practice Pranayam daily

Ulcerative Colitis is viewed in Ayurveda as Grahani or Raktatishara, primarily caused by an imbalance of Pitta and Vata, leading to inflammation and ulceration in the colon. Cooling (Pitta Shamana): Reducing internal heat and inflammation. Astringent (Stambhana): Firming up the stool to reduce frequency. Healing (Ropana): Using “Pichcha Basti” or oral herbs to heal intestinal ulcers. 1. Dadimhashtaka Churna Action: Powerful astringent to reduce stool frequency and improve digestion. Dose: 3 grams (approx. 1 teaspoon) twice daily after food with lukewarm water or buttermilk. 2. Kutajarishtam Action: The “gold standard” for managing chronic diarrhea and bloody stools in colitis. Dose: 15–20 ml mixed with an equal quantity of water, twice daily after meals. 3. Manjishtadi Kwath Action: Acts as a blood purifier and reduces the inflammatory response in the gut. Dose: 15 ml diluted with 60 ml of boiled and cooled water, taken on an empty stomach twice daily. 4. Ksheerabala 101 Capsules Action: Helps in healing the mucosal lining and pacifying Vata. Dose: 1 capsule twice daily before food. Key Lifestyle Tips This is considered the best “medicine” in Ayurveda for Grahani. Drink fresh buttermilk seasoned with a pinch of roasted cumin powder. Spicy food, caffeine, alcohol, raw salads, and heavy dairy (except buttermilk). Sip on water boiled with Musta (Nut grass) to maintain electrolyte balance.

ulcerative colitis is a difficult condition to manage, but it also comes under the spectrum of diseases in ayurveda described as grahani roga. this is a condition where you agni that is your metabolic function related to digestion and absorption of food doesnt happen properly. the treatment also lies in correcting this metabolism related issue. along with medications follow a light diet , possibly avoiding lactose and gluten as these trigger flare ups, better to follow a low fiber diet preferably with rice bananas, well cooked vegetables etc in order to not further strain your already stressed digestive tract till your symptoms subside and intestinal absorption of nutrients improve. please follow the internal medications as advised and also use kaiduryadi kashayam 15 ml twice daily before food with 60 ml warm water. follow these prescriptions and diet advises. use the oil on rectal region for pain burning sensation or any fissures. continue for 2 weeks and reach back with your observations and previous reports

The symptoms you described such as frequent bowel movements, abdominal cramps, chronic intestinal irritation, weakness, and long-standing recurrence can be correlated in Ayurveda mainly with Raktatisara, Pittaja Grahani, and involvement of Vata aggravation in Pakwashaya. Pitta Dosha causes inflammation, burning, bleeding tendency, ulceration, and irritation in intestines. Vata Dosha causes increased bowel frequency, urgency, cramps, pain, and weakness. Rakta Dushti indicates chronic mucosal damage and bleeding tendency. Mandagni + Grahani Dushti leads to improper digestion and repeated loose motions. So treatment should focus on: ✔ Cooling and healing intestinal lining ✔ Reducing stool frequency ✔ Balancing Pitta + Vata ✔ Improving digestion without irritation ✔ Restoring strength and immunity Internal Medicines 1) Guluchyadi Kashayam 15 ml + 45 ml lukewarm water twice daily before food. 2) Kutajghan Vati 2 tablets twice daily after food. 3) Mustarishtam / Kutajarishtam 20 ml + equal water twice daily after food. 4) Dadimashtaka Churna 3 grams with buttermilk twice daily after meals. 5) Shatavari Ghritam / Guggulutiktaka Ghritam 1 teaspoon once daily with lunch. 6) Praval Pishti + Mukta Shukti Bhasma (For Pitta burning tendency) 125 mg each mixed with honey once daily. Panchakarma Therapy Matra Basti with Bala Taila / Yashtimadhu Taila For chronic Vata aggravation. Piccha Basti Very useful in chronic colitis, bleeding stools, mucus. Useful Advice ✔ Eat small meals frequently ✔ Avoid overeating ✔ Sleep before 10:30 pm ✔ Reduce stress and anger ✔ Practice Anulom Vilom + Sheetali Pranayama daily ✔ Maintain hydration ✔ Take complete physical rest during flare

This is a severe and long-standing ulcerative colitis, and passing stools 15–20 times/day indicates active inflammation. The goal is to calm the colon and reduce frequency, not strong digestion medicines. Keep diet very strict and simple: Avoid spicy, fried, raw foods, milk (if it worsens), and outside food. Take soft, soothing foods like rice, moong dal, pomegranate, boiled vegetables. Eat small meals at regular intervals. Drink warm water. Avoid cold food and drinks. At home: Fresh pomegranate juice in small quantity Buttermilk with roasted jeera (only if it suits you) Kutajghan vati – 1 tablet three times daily after food Musta churna – ½ teaspoon twice daily with warm water Dadimashtak churna – ½ teaspoon twice daily after food Isabgol (psyllium husk) – 1 teaspoon at bedtime with warm water This helps reduce frequency, control inflammation, and improve stool consistency. Since frequency is very high, keep regular follow-up with your doctor. If there is blood, dehydration, or weakness, do not delay medical care. Improvement takes time, so follow consistently. Regards, Dr Raghuveer (Ayurvedacharya)

You are experiencing frequent bowel movements (15–20 times), abdominal discomfort, and long-standing digestive issues. This condition is related to Ulcerative Colitis, where: The intestinal lining becomes sensitive Digestion becomes irregular Bowel movements increase in frequency Ayurvedic Understanding Mainly Pitta + Vata imbalance Along with Ama (improperly digested food toxins) In simple terms: Digestion is weak, and the intestine is not able to hold food properly, leading to frequent motions. We will work in a gentle and step-by-step way: Reduce Ama (clean up digestion) Improve Agni (digestive strength) in a mild, soothing way Reduce bowel frequency Strengthen the intestines Before food: Take Musta Churna with warm water → Helps improve digestion gently When motions are very frequent: Take Kutaja Parpati Vati with buttermilk → Helps reduce bowel frequency After motions reduce: Take Panchamruta Parpati with buttermilk → Helps strengthen the intestines Diet Guidance ✔ Light, warm, easily digestible food ✔ Rice + moong dal ✔ Buttermilk daily Avoid: Spicy and fried food Bakery items Very cold food Raw foods (initially) ✔ Eat small, frequent meals (good that you are already doing this) ✔ Manage stress ✔ Take adequate rest What You Can Expect First, bowel frequency will start reducing Then discomfort will reduce Gradually, digestion and strength will improve When digestion improves and the intestines become stronger, bowel movements naturally come under control. Alongside do check if you’re suffering with any vitamin or mineral deficiencies which might again trigger increased frequency of bowels and inflammation. Check and accordingly start supplements under guidance of a doctor.
