According to Ayurveda, these symptoms may be related to an imbalance of Vata dosha, especially in old age, affecting the mind, digestion, nerves, and movement. Chronic constipation, low mood, weak memory, fatigue, and slow walking are often connected. –Rx: 1) Brahmi Vati – 1 tab BD after food 2) Ashwagandha lehyam – 1tsf with warm milk HS 3) Triphala Churna – 5 gm with warm water HS for constipation 4) Saraswatarishta – 15 ml + equal water BD after meals 5) Ksheerbala Taila – gentle abhyanga daily —Advice: Warm, soft, easily digestible diet Adequate hydration Daily slow walk, sunlight exposure Regular sleep routine Avoid stress, excessive fasting, cold/dry foods —Neurology & physician evaluation advised to rule out Alzheimer’s disease / Parkinson’s disease and medication-related causes. — Panchkarma therapy - abhyang whole body with ksheerbala taila followed with steam - tikt sheer basti matra basti for 7 days - Shirodhara -14 days ---- follow up after 15 days

Managing the health of a 72-year-old after a heart procedure requires a delicate balance between maintaining cardiovascular health and addressing the neurological and digestive shifts common in the “Vata” stage of life (old age). In Ayurveda, the symptoms you described—depression (Vishada), constipation (Vibandha), memory issues (Smruthibhramsha), and slow walking—are often seen as an aggravation of Vata Dosha and a depletion of Ojas (vitality) post-surgery. I have added medications for you take them consistently and you will see results , if you face any issue you can consult me on personal consultation. The “Dos”✅ • Warm, Moist Foods: Serve soups, stews, and porridges. Use healthy fats like A2 Cow Ghee, which nourishes the brain and lubricates the gut. • Fiber & Hydration: For constipation, include soaked raisins or figs at night. Ensure he sips warm water throughout the day. • Gentle Movement: Walking is “slow” likely due to stiffness or low confidence. Encourage “Mindful Walking” in a safe, flat area for 10–15 minutes twice a day to maintain muscle tone. • Daily Routine (Dinacharya): A fixed routine for sleeping and eating provides the mental security needed to manage depression and cognitive decline.  The “Don’ts”❌ • Avoid Cold/Dry Foods: Skip salads, crackers, or cold drinks, as these aggravate both constipation and anxiety.  • Limit Sensory Overload: High-volume TV or crowded environments can be confusing for someone with early Alzheimer’s. • No Suppression of Urges: Ensure he is encouraged to go to the bathroom as soon as he feels the urge to prevent further Vata buildup.

At 72 years of age, after a stent procedure, symptoms like depression, constipation, slow walking, fatigue, and early memory decline should be managed carefully with both cardiac safety and brain support in mind. In Ayurveda, this condition is commonly related to aggravated Vata dosha, weakened nervous system function, poor digestion, and age-related decline of Majja and Ojas. Important advice: Continue all prescribed cardiac medicines regularly. Do not stop them without consulting the cardiologist. A combined approach of modern treatment, Ayurveda, diet, physiotherapy, and mental support usually gives the best results. Ayurvedic supportive management: Medhya Rasayana herbs like Brahmi, Shankhpushpi, Mandukaparni, and Ashwagandha may help memory, sleep, stress, and mental calmness. Mild bowel regulation is very important because chronic constipation can worsen confusion, weakness, and Vata imbalance. Triphala at bedtime with warm water or doctor-advised bowel support may help. Abhyanga (gentle warm oil massage) and mild physiotherapy can improve circulation, stiffness, walking speed, and sleep quality. Daily sunlight exposure, breathing exercises, and slow walking support mood and cognition. Diet recommendations: Warm, soft, freshly cooked meals Adequate hydration Ghee in small quantity if digestion allows Avoid dry, cold, processed, very spicy, and heavy foods Include soaked almonds, walnuts, seasonal fruits, and fiber-rich foods Very important: Because depression is severe and memory symptoms are increasing, evaluation by a neurologist/psychiatrist is strongly advised to rule out progressing dementia, vitamin deficiency, medication side effects, or reduced brain circulation after cardiac disease. Early supportive care can significantly improve quality of life, mobility, sleep, bowel habits, and mental function.

●The normal functioning of tau protein is essential in order to transport essential nutrients and minerals in the brain. But in this disorder the thread of this tau protein twist into abnormal tangles and hence, leads to failure of the transport system. This in turn leads to death of brain cells. ●This disorder is believed to occur due to the combined effects of genes, lifestyle, and several environmental factors as well. The causes are not yet fully understood, but it is clear, that the disorder damages brain cells and kills them. The disease proceeds with more and more brain cell damage. ●The plaques are the clumps of protein, called as beta amyloid. These clumps are known to damage and destroy the cell in the brain and in turn affects the cell to cell communication. ●Brahmi Capsules - 2 capsules, twice a day, with plain water, after meals. ●Curcumin Capsules- 2 capsules, twice a day, with plain water, after meals. ●Gotukola Capsules - 2 capsules, twice a day, with plain water, after meals. ●Memory Support - 2 capsules, twice a day, with plain water, after meals. ●Medhya Churna - 1/4 teaspoon once daily with 1 spoon of Cow Ghee (Clarified Butter). ●For constipation 1 teaspoon of Triphala • 1 cup of warm water • Soak for 5-10 minutes • Consume at night If you have frequent urination at night, take Triphala in the morning on an empty stomach. ●Fiber softens and makes stools more mobile. Include in your diet: • Porridge • Oats Wheat bran • Whole grains • Fresh fruits and vegetables Fiber + water = easier bowel movements. ●Castor Oil (in special circumstances) Method – • Ginger tea • Add 2 teaspoons of castor oil • Consume at night. Do not use regularly as it can be habit-forming. ●Use of Flaxseed At night • 1 teaspoon of flaxseed • Boil in 1 cup of water • Drink with the seeds. This lubricates and speeds up bowel movements. ●Preventing future constipation • Eating regularly Adequate water intake • Light exercise • Fresh, warm food • Reducing stress • A vata-friendly lifestyle

Addressing Constipation (Vibandha) Chronic constipation can increase intra-abdominal pressure, which is undesirable after a stent procedure. The goal is to ensure a smooth evacuation without straining. •Mild Laxatives: Use non-habit-forming, bulk-forming agents. Avipattikar Churna (3-5g) both time with normal water after food can be effective •Dietary Fiber: Focus on cooked, easy-to-digest foods like Khichdi with plenty of ghee, and stewed fruits like prunes or figs. Neurological Support (Alzheimer’s Symptoms) In Ayurveda, memory decline is treated through Medhya Rasayanas (nootropic rejuvenators) that support Majja Dhatu (nervous tissue). •Brahmi vati 1 BD after food with normal water • shankhpushpi swaras 15 ml with same amount of water both time after food •Nasya: Administering 2 drops of Anu Taila in each nostril daily can help improve sensory perception and mental focus, as the nose is considered the gateway to the head •Emotional Well-being (Depression) Ashwaghanda tablet 1 BD after food with normal water •Mobility & Recovery (Slow Walking) Slow gait post-stent may be due to weakness (Dhatukshaya) or fear of exertion. •Arjuna tablet :- 1 BD after food with normal water essential for any post-stent patient. It strengthens the heart muscles (Hridaya) and improves circulation without putting undue pressure on the stent. •Important Clinical Considerations [!CAUTION] Integration with Modern Medicine: It is vital to ensure that Ayurvedic herbs do not interfere with post-stent medications like blood thinners (e.g., Aspirin, Clopidogrel) or statins. For instance, high doses of Guggulu or Garlic supplements can sometimes potentiate blood-thinning effects. Recommended Daily Routine (Dinacharya) •Morning: Warm water with a pinch of ginger (if no acidity). •Breakfast: Warm porridge or Daliya. •Lunch: Most substantial meal; seasonal vegetables and lentils. •Evening: 10–15 minutes of Pranayama. •Dinner: Light and taken at least 3 hours before sleep.

Hello, Managing a 72-year-old patient with this complex history requires a holistic approach that balances cardiovascular safety with neurological and digestive health. In Ayurveda, this presentation often indicates a significant Vata imbalance, leading to dryness (constipation), nervous system depletion (Alzheimer’s symptoms/depression), and impaired movement (slow gait). The goal is Vata Shamana (pacifying Vata) and Medhya Rasayana (nervous system rejuvenation). After a cardiac procedure, it is vital to ensure that treatments do not strain the heart or interfere with blood-thinning medications Prescription : For Cognitive Support & Depression: 1. Brahmi Ghritham Dose: 1 teaspoon (5-10g) on an empty stomach in the morning with warm water. This medicated ghee crosses the blood-brain barrier to nourish the nerves and improve memory. For Digestion & Constipation: 2. Gandharvahastadi Castor Oil Dose: 10-15 ml mixed with a cup of warm milk or warm water at bedtime, twice a week. This provides a gentle laxative effect without causing the strain that can be risky for cardiac patients. For Nerve Health & Walking (Gait): 3. Ksheerabala (101) Capsules Dose: 1 capsule twice daily before food. This is a potent “Avarti” (fortified) preparation that specifically targets neurological debility and improves motor functions. 4. Chyavanaprash Dose: 1 tablespoon twice daily after food. It serves as a heart-safe tonic that supports overall immunity and strength during recovery. Physical Activity: Encourage very short, frequent walks on flat surfaces to assist both bowel movements and cognitive engagement, ensuring he has physical support to prevent falls. Hydration: Ensure adequate intake of warm water to assist the action of the fiber and medications.

After stent procedure and at this age, symptoms like low mood, constipation, slow walking, and mild memory decline are usually related to weakness of the nervous system along with reduced circulation and Vata aggravation. Recovery needs a calm and consistent approach. Do not stop any current cardiac medicines. Keep his routine regular with proper sleep, light physical activity, and emotional support. Daily walking for short duration, sunlight exposure, and interaction with family members are helpful for mood and memory. Constipation should be corrected gently. Give warm, soft, easy-to-digest food with adequate fluids. Avoid dry, cold, and processed foods. At home, gentle body massage with warm sesame oil followed by warm water bath can help stiffness and improve circulation. Soaked black raisins at night may help bowel movement. Brahmi vati – 1 tablet twice daily Ashwagandha churna – 1 teaspoon with warm milk at bedtime Triphala tablets – 1–2 tablets at bedtime with warm water Saraswatarishta – 15 ml with equal water twice daily after food These can help support memory, mood, bowel movement, and overall strength gradually. Since symptoms include depression and memory changes, regular follow-up with physician/neurologist is important for proper monitoring. Regards, Dr Raghuveer (Ayurvedacharya)
