At age 70 with history of stent, BP/cholesterol medicines, and antibiotics, gas and bloating are commonly due to weak digestion and medicine-related gut irritation. Take Avipattikar churna 3 gm at bedtime with warm water Hingvashtak churna 1 gm with first morsel of lunch and dinner Jeerakarishtam 10 ml + equal water after meals, 2 times daily Diet: Avoid curd at night, chana, rajma, cabbage, excess tea Eat warm fresh food, small frequent meals Walk 10–15 min after food

●Simple rules to reduce acidity: • Eat meals on time. Limit spicy and fried foods. • Avoid lying down immediately after meals. • Drink plenty of water throughout the day. • Keep dinner light. These simple rules also contribute greatly to balancing Pitta. ● When should one eat? Food should be eaten only after the previous meal has been completely digested. Symptoms: • A pronounced feeling of hunger • A slight belching • A feeling of lethargy • A strong craving for food. Eating by the clock gradually imbalances the agni (fire). The root cause of most diseases is a weak agni. When agni is weak: • Food is not digested properly • Ama is formed • Gas, heaviness, skin diseases, and fatigue increase. When agni is balanced: • The body feels light • Energy is maintained. The skin, mind, and digestion all improve. What should be the recommended amount of food? Ayurveda says: Half of the stomach should be filled with food, one-quarter with water, and one-quarter empty. If the stomach is completely full, the fire (Agni) doesn’t have space to functionThis is why one feels heaviness, laziness and sleepiness after overeating. What is a contradictory diet? Consuming certain foods together creates a “contradictory diet” in the body. For example: • Milk + salt • Milk + sour fruits • Heavy food with fruits • Curd at night • Cold water immediately after meals. Such combinations cause illness gradually, not immediately. ●Alsactil Tablet – 1 tablet twice a day on an empty stomach ●Abhayarishta – 2 teaspoons with warm water three times a day after meals ●Gandharvahastadi Castor Oil – Use mixed in food ●Dadimashtak Churna – 2 teaspoons twice a day after meals

Namaskaram. Since you are 70 years old and already taking medicines for heart stent, BP, cholesterol, and prostate infection, your gas and bloating are likely due to weakened digestion (Mandagni) along with long-term medicines and antibiotics disturbing gut balance. You may continue Astav Churnam if it suits you, but along with this follow these Ayurvedic measures: Take warm water frequently in small sips. Avoid curd at night, excess dairy, rajma, chana, cabbage, potato, and refrigerated foods. Eat light, freshly cooked vegetarian food and avoid overeating. After meals, chew a small mixture of roasted jeera + ajwain + saunf. A short slow walk after food will help reduce trapped gas. Useful Ayurvedic medicines for chronic gas and bloating: Hingvashtak Churna — ½ tsp with first morsel of food twice daily. Avipattikar Churna — helpful if acidity or constipation is associated. Takra Kalp with roasted jeera can improve digestion…

Namaskaram, According to Ayurveda, age 70 falls into the naturally Vata-predominant stage of life. The prolonged use of antibiotics and heavy allopathic medications can significantly disrupt your Jatharagni (digestive fire) and alter natural gut flora. This leads to the aggravation of Apana Vata and Samana Vata, manifesting as Adhmana (bloating) and frequent flatulence. While Ashtachoornam is an excellent digestive aid, its high salt and sharp spice content can sometimes be overly stimulating for continuous use, especially alongside blood pressure medications. Ayurveda Medicines & Dosage Here are gentler, highly effective alternatives to balance Vata and soothe the gut: 1. Gandharvahastadi Kashayam: 15 ml mixed with 45 ml of warm water. Take twice daily, 30 minutes before meals. This specifically helps guide Apana Vata downward, relieving gas and ensuring smooth bowel movements. 2. Dadimashtaka Choornam: 1 teaspoon (approx. 3-5g) mixed with a little warm water or buttermilk. Take twice daily after meals. Pomegranate-based, this is much milder than Ashtachoornam and supports digestion without aggravating blood pressure. 3. Vayu Gulika: 1 tablet, chewed and swallowed with warm water only when you experience severe, acute gas or discomfort.

Here are some safe, effective Ayurvedic alternatives and additions specifically chosen to handle gas without interfering with your cardiac or prostate treatments: 1. Safe Ayurvedic Classic Formulations for Gas •lasunadi vati :- 1-0-1 after food with normal water .this medicine is very useful for your gas and bloating symptoms. •Gandharvahastadi Kashayam: This is a liquid preparation made with castor root, ginger, and barley. It is exceptionally gentle, lubricates the intestinal walls, and ensures smooth movement of Vata without causing laxative dependency. How to take: Take 15 ml mixed with 15 ml of warm water on an empty stomach in the morning and evening (about an hour before meals). •Sankha Vati :- These are classical tablets. which is excellent for both gas reduction and supporting cardiac health, while Sankha Vati helps if the gas is accompanied by mild sour belching. How to take: 1 tablet can be swallowed with warm water after meals. 2. Simple Home Remedies (Kitchen Pharmacy) Since you are already taking multiple pills, incorporating simple dietary remedies can ease the burden on your stomach: •Danyaka-Jeeraka Aqua (Coriander-Cumin Water): Boil 1 teaspoon of cumin seeds (Jeera) and 1 teaspoon of coriander seeds (Dhania) in 1 liter of water. Reduce it slightly, strain, and keep it in a flask. Sip this warm water throughout the day. It stabilizes Agni without increasing internal heat. •Buttermilk with a Twist (Takra): If you tolerate dairy well, fresh, home-churned buttermilk (not thick yogurt) taken during lunch is highly therapeutic for antibiotic-induced gut imbalance. Add a pinch of roasted cumin powder, rock salt (Saindhava Lavana), and a tiny pinch of asafoetida (Hingu). 3. Crucial Dietary & Lifestyle Adjustments •Lubrication (Snehana): Long-term cardiac and prostate medicines can cause internal dryness. Ensure your vegetarian diet includes a small amount of cow’s ghee (1–2 teaspoons a day is generally safe and beneficial for Vata, even for cardiac patients, but do keep it within your overall daily fat allowance). •Avoid Vata-Aggravating Foods: Reduce your intake of raw salads, sprouts, dry snacks, and gas-producing vegetables like cauliflower, cabbage, broccoli, and heavy lentils (like Rajma or Chana) during the evening. Ensure all your food is warm, freshly cooked, and easy to digest. Post-Meal Stroll: Avoid sitting or lying down immediately after eating. Walk gently for 100 steps (Satapadi) to assist mechanical digestion.

Hello, Namaskaram, At your age and with history of -heart stent -Bp/cholesterol medicines -prolonged antibiotics for prostate issues Gas and bloating are very commonly related to -weakened digestion -alteration of gut bacteria from antibiotics -mild constipation -food fermentation after meals Since you are already taking Asthachurnam regularly and still getting symptoms, instead of increasing strong digestive powders, a gentler and more balancing approach is better Ayurvedic management 1) Avipattikar churna = 1/2 tsp with warm water twice daily after meals =best for gas + acidity, heat, frequent burping, bloating after meals Usually gentler for elderly patients than strong carminative powders 2) Hingwastaka churna= 1/2 tsp with first morsel of food + little ghee twice at lunch and dinner time =very useful especially if gas after meals, abdominal fullness, vata related bloating Probiotic support very important Because you are taking antibiotics, your gut flora may be disturbed Please consider -homemade buttermilk -probiotic curd in small quantity and only at daytime Avoid taking dairy at night if it worsens gas Diet advice -warm water sipping -jeera-fennel-coriander boiled water -soft cooked vegetarian meals -small frequent meals -early dinner Avoid -large meals -eating late night -cabbage/cauliflower excess -reheated food -excess tea, coffee -milk at night if bloating increases Helpful home remedy After meals -chew small quantity of roasted fennel + ajwain Or -warm water with pinch of hing Important Because you had -heart stent -long term medicines -and are age 70 Please avoid taking many strong over the counter Ayurvedic combinations without supervision Some formulation may interfere with -Bp -blood thinners -digestion -or kidney function Your gas problem is likely more related to -age related slow digestion -antibiotics disturbing gut flora -mild constipation/ vata imbalance rather than a dangerous condition A combination of -lighter meals -probiotics support -avipattikar or hingwastaka in small doses -and bowel regulation usually gives better long term relief than repeatedly increasing strong digestive churnas Do follow Hope this might be helpful Thank you

Namaskaram. Gas can commonly increase with multiple medicines, antibiotics, and mild digestion weakness, especially at 70 years of age. Avoid excess dairy, heavy dinner, fried foods, and eating large meals at once. Take small meals and walk for 10–15 minutes after food. Hingvastak churna – ½ tsp with first bite of food twice daily Avipattikar tablet – 1 tablet after dinner Jeerakarishta – 15 ml with equal water after meals Please continue your heart medicines regularly and do not stop them. Regards, Dr Raghuveer (Ayurvedacharya)
