Hello Yes Haritaki (Harde) is a classical medicine for constipation and hard stools and also helps to support healthy bowel movement As you are 62 years old and experiencing hard stools it is helpful for you but some precautions need to be followed 🔹Can you take 3 piece of harde? 3 piece of harde can be excessive as the size and potency may differ What you can take instead is -Haritaki churna 1 tsp daily at bed time with warm water -if you want to use a whole harde then start with using 1 and then gradually increase if needed 🔹Since you also have thyroid issues In people having hypothyroidism, constipation is most common So also ensure thay -You are taking your thyroid medication regularly -Thyroid profile is normal -You are enough hydrated 🔹Additional measures -Drink Daily 1-2 glass of warm water in morning -include -Soak raisins, papaya, guava, cooked vegetables and ghee in your diet -Daily Walking for 30-45 mins 🔹Alternative best option is triphala churna If contains three ingredients like haritaki, bibhitaki and amlaki This is also a good medicine for long duration and for elder patients Wishing you a good health 😊 Warm Regards Dr Snehal Vidhate

At age 62, Haritaki (Harde) can be helpful in Ayurveda for constipation and hard stools, but taking 3 whole pieces every night may be too strong for some people and could cause loose motions, abdominal discomfort, or dehydration if used regularly. —Internal Medicines 1) Haritaki Churna – 3 g with warm water at bedtime. –If using whole Harde, start with 1 piece at night and adjust according to response. 2) Triphala Churna – 3 g with warm water at bedtime (can be used instead of Haritaki for long-term bowel regulation). ----For Thyroid Support (Ayurvedic) 3) Kanchanar Guggulu – 2 tablets twice daily after meals with lukewarm water. 4) Varunadi Kashayam – 15 ml with equal water twice daily before meals. —&&Diet & Lifestyle Continue your prescribed thyroid medicine exactly as advised by your doctor. Take thyroid medicine on an empty stomach in the morning and maintain a gap of at least 30–60 minutes before food. -Drink warm water throughout the day. Include soaked raisins (10–15) or soaked figs (2–3) daily. Use 1–2 teaspoons of ghee daily if suitable. Walk for 30–45 minutes daily. Avoid excessive tea, coffee, processed foods, and very dry foods. ----Precautions Do not take Ayurvedic medicines at the same time as thyroid medication; keep a gap of at least 1–2 hours. If constipation worsens, or if you develop abdominal pain, bleeding, unexplained weight loss, or persistent change in bowel habits, seek medical evaluation. ----Note: Please mention whether your thyroid condition is hypothyroidism or hyperthyroidism and the name/dose of your thyroid medicine for more specific advice.

Yes, Haritaki (Harde) is considered one of the best Ayurvedic remedies for chronic constipation, especially when stools are hard, dry, or pellet-like. Since you are 62 years old and have been experiencing this problem for more than 6 months, taking 2–3 small pieces of Harde at bedtime with warm water may help improve bowel movements gradually. How to take it: Take 2–3 small pieces of Harde or 3–5 g Haritaki powder at night. Drink a glass of warm water afterward. Continue for 2–4 weeks and assess the response. Additional Ayurvedic advice: Drink adequate warm water throughout the day. Include soaked raisins, papaya, stewed figs, and cooked vegetables in your diet. Avoid excessive tea, coffee, fried foods, and very dry foods. A teaspoon of cow ghee in warm milk at bedtime may also help soften stools.

••Taking whole Harad (Haritaki) with warm water at night is a time-tested, traditional Ayurvedic approach to clearing the bowels. However, at age 62, taking 3 whole pieces every day is generally too high a dose for long-term use ••The Right Way to Use Harad for Digestion To get the best results safely and preserve your Agni (digestive fire), consider adjusting the method and dosage: 1. Reduce the Dosage Instead of 3 whole pieces, start with 1 small piece or switch to the powdered form (Churna).
••The Powdered Alternative: Taking 1/2 to 1 teaspoon (around 2–3 grams) of pure Haritaki powder with warm water at night is much easier to regulate and gentler on the senior digestive tract. 2. Balance the Dryness (The Ayurvedic Secret) Because Harad is drying, Ayurveda recommends changing the medium (Anupana) based on your needs. If you are using whole Harad, instead of just water, try lightly roasting the fruit in a few drops of pure cow’s ghee before processing or chewing it. Ghee provides Snehana (lubrication), which neutralizes the drying effect, protects the intestinal lining, and pacifies Vata. 3. Consider Triphala Instead For daily, long-term bowel management at age 62, Triphala Churna is often preferred over standalone Harad. Triphala blends Haritaki with Bibhitaki and Amla. The addition of Amla provides a cooling effect that prevents dryness and safely rejuvenates the colon without causing dependency.
Important Tips for 62+ Digestive Health ••Stay Hydrated: Harad naturally flushes toxins out, so ensure you drink adequate lukewarm water throughout the day. ••Dietary Lubrication: Include healthy fats like a teaspoon of ghee in your warm meals to naturally ease Apana Vata (the energy responsible for elimination). ••Listen to Your Body: If you experience loose stools, dehydration, or mild abdominal griping, it is a sign to lower the dose or take a break
