Possible Causes: -----Small acne-like eruptions on the scalp and face that suddenly become large, painful, and swollen may occur due to: -Infection of hair follicles (folliculitis) -Excess oil production and blocked pores -Excess sweating and humid weather -Stress, poor sleep, or dietary factors -Bacterial skin infection causing boils or painful cystic acne -Underlying conditions such as diabetes, if recurrent -------Recommendations: -Keep the scalp and face clean by washing regularly with a mild cleanser. -Avoid scratching, squeezing, or picking the eruptions, as this can worsen infection and scarring. -Maintain good hydration and consume a balanced diet rich in fruits and vegetables. -Reduce oily, fried, spicy, and high-sugar foods if they appear to trigger breakouts. -Change pillow covers, towels, and caps regularly to maintain hygiene. -Manage stress and ensure adequate sleep. --------Treatment Plan: 1) Mahamanjisthadi Kwath – 15 ml with equal water, twice daily after food. 2) Gandhak Rasayan – 2 tablets twice daily after food. 3) Khadirarishta – 20 ml with equal water, twice daily after food. 4) Arogyavardhini Vati – 1 tablet twice daily after food. -----External Application: 5) Apply Neem Oil or Kumkumadi Taila locally over affected areas at night. -Wash with lukewarm water in the morning. -----Pathya (Recommended Diet): Plenty of water, fresh fruits, green vegetables. Include neem, turmeric, and amla in the diet if suitable. Maintain regular bowel habits. -----Apathya (Avoid): Oily, fried, spicy, and junk foods. Excess sweets, chocolates, and soft drinks. Late-night sleeping and excessive stress. -----Lifestyle Advice: Wash scalp regularly and maintain hygiene. Avoid scratching or squeezing lesions. Practice Pranayama and regular physical activity. ----Follow-up: After 4 weeks or earlier if painful boils, fever, or recurrent severe eruptions occur

Sudden painful acne-like eruptions on the scalp and face can occur due to folliculitis (hair follicle infection), acne, excessive sweating, oily skin, diabetes, stress, or hormonal factors. If the bumps are large, red, warm, and very painful, they may be boils and should be examined by a doctor. Ayurvedic treatment: • Mahamanjisthadi Kwath – 20 ml with equal water twice daily after meals. • Gandhak Rasayan – 2 tablets twice daily after meals. • Neem Churna – 3 g twice daily with lukewarm water after meals. External application: • Apply fresh neem paste or a neem-based Ayurvedic cream on affected areas once daily. Diet: • Avoid fried foods, excess sweets, sugary drinks, and very spicy foods. • Drink adequate water and include fresh fruits and vegetables.

Thank you for sharing your concern. You are experiencing small acne-like eruptions on the scalp and face that suddenly become large, painful, and inflamed. At the age of 50 years, recurrent painful eruptions deserve proper attention because they may not be ordinary teenage acne. In Ayurveda, such conditions are often related to an imbalance of Pitta and Kapha Dosha, along with impurities in the blood (Rakta Dushti). Why Do These Painful Eruptions Occur? According to Ayurveda, painful red boils, inflamed acne, and recurrent eruptions can develop due to: 1. Excess Pitta Dosha (Heat in the Body) When Pitta becomes aggravated, it increases: Inflammation Redness Burning sensation Pain and tenderness Formation of pus-filled lesions Common triggers include: Excess spicy foods Fried and oily foods Alcohol consumption Excessive heat exposure Emotional stress and anger Irregular sleep habits 2. Kapha Accumulation Excess Kapha can block skin pores and hair follicles, leading to: Swelling Thick secretions Pus formation Recurring scalp eruptions This is especially common in people who consume: Excess dairy products Sugary foods Heavy meals Processed foods 3. Rakta Dushti (Blood Impurity) Ayurveda considers recurrent boils, acne, and inflammatory skin conditions as signs of vitiated blood. Symptoms may include: Repeated eruptions Painful boils Redness and heat Itching or burning Delayed healing

••In Ayurveda, the sudden transformation of mild, small acne into large, painful, and inflamed eruptions is recognized as a classic manifestation of aggravated Pitta Dosha and Rakta Dhatu (blood tissue) vitiation. On the face, this condition is traditionally referred to as Mukhadoshika (acne vulgaris), while painful eruptions on the scalp or head closely align with Arunshika or localized Arbuda/Pidaka (inflammatory boils/folliculitis). ••Scalp Eruptions (Left Image): The scalp houses a high density of hair follicles and sweat glands. When excess sebum combines with aggravated Pitta, it blocks these roots, leading to deep, tender nodules that throb painfully due to the tight skin over the skull. ••Facial Eruptions (Right Image): Vitiated blood circulating to the face manifests as active, inflamed, and tender papules or pustules. The presence of sharp pain is a direct indicator of secondary Vata involvement alongside the dominant Pitta heat. ••Primary Ayurvedic Root Causes Living in a tropical, humid climate like Singapore can significantly influence your body’s internal bio-energies. The sudden flare-up is typically triggered by a combination of internal and external factors: ••Environmental Heat & Humidity: Singapore’s year-round hot weather naturally tends to accumulate Pitta and induce excessive sweating, which can clog the pores on both the face and scalp. ••Dietary Triggers (Aharaja Hetu): Regular or sudden increases in the consumption of spicy, deep-fried, sour, fermented, or excessively salty foods instantly heat up the Rakta (blood). ••Lifestyle & Stress (Viharaja Hetu): Lack of sleep, high mental stress, or staying awake late at night (Ratri Jagrana) causes an immediate surge in both Vata and Pitta, turning a mild skin issue into a painful, throbbing eruption. ••Holistic Ayurvedic Management Strategy To pacify the burning, painful nature of these eruptions, the therapeutic approach focuses heavily on Pitta-Rakta Shodhana (blood purification) and Seetala Chikitsa (cooling external therapies). 1. Dietary Modifications (Ahar) ••Favor Cooling Foods: Incorporate sweet, bitter, and astringent tastes. Eat plenty of hydrating vegetables like bottle gourd, cucumber, and zucchini. ••Herbal Infusions: Drink water boiled with coriander seeds (Dhanya) or fennel seeds (Mishreya) cooled to room temperature throughout the day to flush out systemic heat. ••Strictly Avoid: Chili, pepper, vinegar, fermented foods (like yogurt or pickles), fried items, and excessive citrus fruits until the inflammation subsides. 2. Classical Internal Formulations (Aushadhi) Mahamanjishtadi Kwath / Neem Ghan Vati: Powerful blood purifiers (Raktashodhak) that help eliminate the metabolic toxins (Ama) causing the skin inflammation. ••Kaishore Guggulu: Specifically indicated for painful, inflamed skin conditions where Pitta and Vata are simultaneously aggravated. Avipattikar Churna: Taken at bedtime to clear excess digestive heat through mild, controlled elimination. 3. Gentle External Applications (Lepa) ••For the Face: A smooth paste made of pure Sandalwood powder (Chandana) and Turmeric (Haridra) mixed with cool rose water can be applied directly to the facial lesions. It acts as a natural anti-inflammatory and cooling agent. ••For the Scalp: Washing the hair with a lukewarm decoction of Neem leaves helps clear follicular blockages without drying out the scalp. Avoid heavy oiling while active, painful pustules are present, as it can trap heat.

There are multiple factors for it like less hydration, blocked pores, blocked sweat glands, hormonal issues etc. But it can be managed. Start with 1. Neem Tablets: 1-0-1 twice daily after meals with water. 2. Manjisthaadi kashayam: 20ml-0-20ml with 20ml water before food 3. Haridra tablet: 1-0-1 with warm milk. External Applications 1. Kumkumadi Tailam: Apply 3-5 drops to face/body nightly; massage gently, wash morning. (For scars, tanning, dullness.) 2.Turmeric-Sandalwood Paste: Mix ½ tsp each powder with rose water; apply to face 3x/week, rinse after 20 mins. (For acne, scars.) 3. Neem-Aloe Vera Gel: Mix fresh aloe gel with neem powder; apply to acne spots 2x/day, rinse after 30 mins. Diet Guidelines Include: Cooling foods—cucumber, bitter gourd, pomegranate, tulsi tea; low-oil veg diet. Avoid: Spicy/oily/fried foods, dairy excess, sugar—to control sebum. Hydration: 8 glasses warm water; drink coriander/licorice tea daily. Lifestyle Tips Cleanse face 2x/day with neem-based wash. Sun protection: Use sandalwood paste as natural sunscreen. Gentle exercise: Yoga 20 mins daily; avoid heat. Stress reduction: Meditation 10 mins/day. Regards Dr Gursimran Jeet Singh MD Panchakarma

Hello, If small pimples on the scalp or face suddenly become large, red, painful eruptions , the causes are -folliculitis (infection/ inflammation of hair follicles) -excess oil production and blocked pores -stress, poor sleep, high sugar foods, dairy excess -diabetes or elevated blood sugar -scalp infections -hormonal and inflammatory factors Ayurvedic view This condition is often associated with pitta-rakta dushti (heat and inflammation in blood) along with kapha accumulation, leading to painful inflamed eruptions Treatment goals -reduce inflammation and pain -prevent new eruptions -purify blood and pitta balance -improve skin healing -reduce recurrence Internal medications 1) Mahamanjisthadi kashaya= 15ml + equal water twice daily after meals for 12 weeks =one of the best formulation for inflammatory skin disorders and recurrent acne 2) Gandhak rasayana= 2 tabs twice daily after meals for 8 weeks =supports skin healing and helps reduce recurrent acne like eruptions 3) Arogyavardhini vati= 1 tab twice daily after meals for 6 weeks =supports metabolism and skin health 4) Kaishor guggulu= 2 tabs twice daily after meals = anti inflammatory 5) Triphala churna= 1 tsp with warm water at bedtime =detox gut External application 1) Kumkumadi taila- apply 2-3 drops for pigmentation only, not active painful lession For active painful scalp/face eruptions 2) Neem oil (diluted ) or use neem based face wash -wash affected area twice daily -avoid squeezing or picking lesions Diet -bitter vegetables bitter gourd, neem -green leafy vegetables -amla -pomegranate -adequate water AVOID -excess sugar -chocolate in excess -deep fried foods -excess dairy if it worsens acne -alcohol -smoking Lifestyle -sleep before 11 pm -daily exercise 30 minutes -stress management -keep scalp clean -change pillow covers regularly Painful, rapidly enlarging acne like lesions at your age are less likely to be ordinary teenage acne and more commonly represent folliculitis, infected cysts, or inflammatory skin eruptions. Do follow Hope this might be helpful Thank you
