anyone used mochras for excessive bleeding? - #2255

Genesis

I’ve been dealing with heavy menstrual bleeding for over six months. It’s affecting my daily life, and I’ve become anemic because of it. I read online that Mochras (Bombax malabaricum) can help with this issue. I’ve never tried Ayurvedic herbs before and am unsure about dosage and how to use it—should I take it as a powder or make a decoction? Would love to hear if anyone has had success with this remedy. Did it reduce the bleeding, and how long did it take to notice any changes?

Mochras (Bombax malabaricum) is traditionally used in Ayurveda to help regulate heavy menstrual bleeding and improve overall uterine health. It is often used to stop excessive bleeding, balance hormones, and strengthen the reproductive system. The herb can be taken as a powder, decoction, or in tablet form. Typically, a small amount of the powder (around 1–2 grams) can be taken with warm water, or it can be boiled into a decoction. You may notice improvement after a few weeks, but the time frame varies depending on individual constitution and the severity of the condition. It’s also important to address anemia by incorporating iron-rich foods and possibly herbs like Punarnava and Guduchi to support blood production. However, given the severity of your symptoms, I recommend consulting with both an Ayurvedic practitioner and a gynecologist to ensure a safe and comprehensive treatment approach.

I've heard about using mochras for heavy bleeding—it’s quite fascinating what traditional herbs can offer. Mochras, from the Bombax malabaricum tree, is known in Ayurveda for its hemostatic properties. It can help manage excessive bleeding due to its astringent qualities. Since this is your first venture into Ayurvedic herbs, it’s vital to tread carefully and ensure it's safe for you. You can use mochras as a powder or decoction. Personally, the decoction approach feels more traditional, maybe slightly more potent for some folks. To prepare a decoction, take about 5 grams of mochras and boil in a cup of water until the volume is reduced by half. Strain it and drink the decoction twice daily. Some do find it beneficial when taken consistently for several cycles—though benefits might be noticeable as soon as a couple of weeks. But hold on, don't forget about the anemia—a common companion of heavy bleeding. Include iron-rich foods like spinach and pomegranate, or consider an herbal preparation like Ashwagandha, which helps in improving strength and energy levels. Closely related to this, be sure your digestion (agni) is up to the task, so you'll actually absorb the nutrients. Lifestyle tweaks can go a long way too. Avoid overly stressful situations and incorporate gentle yoga into your routine to keep your body calm. Also, drink warm water or herbal teas, which helps improve digestion and absorption. Remember, comprehensive approach is the Ayurveda way, not just solitary remedies! Of course, heavy bleeding is a heavy matter. If things don’t start getting better soon, or they get worse, please consult a healthcare provider just to rule out underlying issues. Stay well!
