Namaste, Itchy scalp with needle-like sensation, especially with sun, exercise, or spicy food, can be related to heat in the body, scalp sensitivity, or mild inflammation. Combing in different directions with a wide-tooth comb usually does not cause harm, but frequent or rough combing can irritate the scalp and increase itching. Simple measures that may help: Avoid excess sun exposure and very spicy, oily foods. Use gentle hair care, avoid harsh shampoos and frequent chemical products. Do regular oil massage with cooling oils like coconut oil to soothe the scalp. Keep the scalp clean but avoid over-washing. Manage body heat with proper hydration and diet. If itching is severe or persistent, it is better to check for dandruff, fungal infection, or scalp conditions. Ayurvedic medicines sometimes used to support scalp health include: Amla – traditionally used to help reduce body heat and support hair health. Bhringraj oil – commonly used to soothe the scalp and support hair growth. Consult me for more advice and suggestions on the above medicines.

Namaste 🙏 The symptoms you described—itchy scalp with a needle-like sensation that worsens with sun exposure, exercise, spicy food, or after combing—may occur due to several scalp conditions. Common possibilities include Seborrheic Dermatitis, Fungal Infection, or sometimes Psoriasis affecting the scalp. Since these conditions can look similar but require different treatments, it is advisable to consult a qualified doctor or dermatologist first for proper diagnosis before trying medications or remedies. Regarding combing: Using a wide-tooth comb gently is generally fine, but frequent or rough combing in different directions can irritate the scalp further, especially if there is inflammation or infection present. What you can do meanwhile Keep the scalp clean and dry. Avoid very spicy foods, excessive sun exposure, and heavy sweating if they trigger itching. Use mild hair cleansers and avoid harsh chemical products. Do not scratch the scalp as it can worsen irritation. Once the exact cause is identified, the treatment can be planned properly and the itching can be managed effectively. Your Diet and gut health should also be considered before.
