Hello Sir/Ma'am, I'm a 30 year old male facing digestion since last 10 years ( At the age of 10 I was diagnosed with Jaundice: swelling in my liver). I don't know whether it is IBS/IBD/Crohn's but here are the symptoms which I'm facing and things I have been doing: 1. Sticky stool (yellow colour) with once in a while mucus. Once red mucus also came. 2-3 times motion for minimum 3 days in a week not on a regular basis. Sometimes Constipation/Loose stools. Feel like I have to go for motion after eating breakfast/lunch/dinner. Like a urgency to defecate sometimes. 2. My appetite is not good. Not feeling hungry nowadays. Feel too gasy after eating heavy or milk or wheat roti. Also feel gas has not passed from abdomen. Trapped gas feeling. Whenever I eat oily gas problem increases substantially. 3. I have not gained weight for the last 7 years. Weight has reduced to 42 kg from 48 kg in the last 2 years. Absorption/Assimilation lacking (Malabsorption). Vaat prakriti. 4. Having started getting skin problems especially ringworm type (daad/dinayi) in knee pit and acne on face. Recently a little bit of puffiness under my eyes. 5. Getting light brown colour encircle(iris) in eyes. 6. My energy level is reducing slowly and gradually. Especially after eating lunch I feel weakness. Sleep is also not deep. Many times wake up in the night. I sleep by 10:30 pm and generally wake up around 5:30 - 6 am. 7. My eating habits: No oily, sugary, processed food. Just eat simple rice, pulses, roti, curd, buttermilk etc. 8. Excercise: Doing yoga asanas such as: Mandukasan, Pawanmukta asan, Deep breathing, Anulom Vilom and Brahamri. Due to all this I'm not able to focus on my work and studies. Please tell me how to improve my health and gain weight as well as strength. (Dr. Snehal Vidhate and all other respected doctors please help me out. Thank You!

Hello I understand your situation. Long-standing digestion issues with weight loss, gas, irregular stools, and low energy can be very frustrating. In your case, this is a clear picture of chronic Vata imbalance with weak digestion (Agnimandya) and malabsorption, likely triggered after liver involvement in childhood. This is why you are not gaining weight despite eating simple food. Right now, the focus should be on improving digestion first, then absorption, then weight gain. Start with Hingwashtak churna ½ tsp with first bite of meals Kutaj Ghan Vati 1 tablet twice daily after food Avipattikar churna ½ tsp at night with warm water Once stools become more stable (in 2–3 weeks), add Ashwagandha churna ½ tsp twice daily with milk Diet is very important in your case. Continue simple food but make it slightly nourishing — add ghee daily, take small frequent meals, and avoid curd at night. If milk causes gas, take it warm with a pinch of dry ginger. Avoid oily, heavy, and raw foods. Do not over-restrict diet, as that further weakens digestion. Continue yoga but keep it gentle. Avoid over-exertion. Sleep improvement will come as digestion improves, so maintain a fixed routine and avoid late-night stimulation. If mucus or blood repeats, or weight keeps dropping, do a basic GI evaluation (stool test, ultrasound) to rule out underlying conditions. With consistent correction of digestion, weight and strength will gradually improve. Warm Regards Dr Raghuveer SN

From everything you have shared this is a long standing disturbance of digestion where the digestive fire has become weak and irregular over the years leading to improper digestion and formation of toxins in the body which in Ayurveda we call ama along with Vata imbalance affecting the intestines and absorption this is why you are seeing symptoms like irregular stools mucus gas poor appetite weight loss weakness and even skin issues The sticky stools mucus urgency after food and alternating constipation and loose motions clearly indicate Grahani involvement where the intestines are not able to hold and process food properly the feeling of trapped gas and discomfort after eating shows that digestion is incomplete and fermentation is happening inside the gut rather than proper breakdown and absorption Your weight loss and lack of strength over years is not just due to eating less but mainly because whatever you are eating is not getting properly absorbed into the tissues so even a simple diet is not nourishing your body fully this is why rebuilding digestion is the first and most important step before trying to gain weight Right now your body needs gentle correction not heavy medicines or aggressive treatments so start by focusing on improving digestion slowly Before meals you can take a small piece of fresh ginger with a pinch of rock salt this will help stimulate digestive fire in a natural way Your diet should be warm freshly cooked and easy to digest avoid cold food refrigerated items raw foods and heavy combinations completely for some time milk and curd may not suit you at present so it is better to stop them temporarily as they can increase mucus and ama Focus more on light nourishing foods like moong dal khichdi rice with thin dal cooked vegetables like bottle gourd ridge gourd pumpkin with a little ghee this will support digestion and gradually improve strength Avoid wheat for some time and observe how your body responds as sometimes it can increase bloating and heaviness in sensitive digestion For medicine support you can take hingvastak churna in small quantity before meals with warm water to reduce gas and improve digestion and avipattikar churna at night if there is constipation If mucus in stool continues then kutaj based medicines can help stabilise the intestines but these should be taken carefully in proper dose Do not start heavy tonics or rasayana immediately as they will not digest properly at this stage once your digestion improves and stools become more regular then we can gradually introduce strengthening medicines like ashwagandha Your skin issues like fungal infection are also a reflection of internal imbalance and toxins so as your digestion improves these will also gradually reduce Continue your yoga and breathing practices but keep them gentle and calming avoid overexertion as your body is currently weak and needs rebuilding Get some basic tests done like blood test stool test and if required further evaluation to rule out any intestinal inflammation as you have had symptoms for many years and significant weight loss With patience and consistency your condition can definitely improve the focus should be on restoring digestion step by step

your symptoms are long-standing and point towards a classical picture of grahani with agni dushti and features of malabsorption. the focus should not be on ibs/ibd labeling first, but on correcting agni and stabilizing digestion. once agni improves, absorption, weight, energy and even skin issues will gradually improve. understanding your condition you have signs of: * mandagni with vishamagni (irregular digestion) * ama formation (sticky stool, mucus, heaviness) * vata predominance (gas, variable bowel, weight loss, poor sleep) * grahani dysfunction (urgency after meals, malabsorption) first principle of treatment is agni correction. do not chase weight or energy initially. they will improve once digestion is corrected. what you should do daily routine wake up early and start your day with one cup of warm water. continue yoga, but keep it gentle and regular: * bhujangasana * pawanmuktasana * simple pranayama like anulom vilom and bhramari add 10–15 minutes of quiet sitting or meditation daily. water therapy prepare musta (nagarmotha) siddha jala: * take 1 teaspoon musta * boil in 1 litre water * reduce slightly, strain and sip throughout the day this will help in ama pachana and regulate bowels. diet correction (very important) for now, simplify and make it more grahani-friendly: * avoid completely: curd, milk, paneer and other dairy for some time *Have regular buttermilk, add roasted jeera powder and a pinch of rock salt * avoid oily, fried, heavy food (you already noticed it worsens symptoms) * avoid raw salads and fruits temporarily * take only warm, freshly cooked food preferred foods: * lauki, tori, tinda, parval, kaddu, karela * moong dal and masoor dal * soft rice or light roti depending on tolerance * add 1 teaspoon cow ghee in dal for improving agni and vata balance medicines (classical approach) these help in agni deepana, ama pachana and grahani support: * sutshekhar rasa 2 tablets twice daily * Hingwashtak churna 3g + bilva churna 3g + praval panchamrit ras (around 250 mg) with a small amount of ghee, twice daily before meals * kutajarishta 15 ml with equal water after meals, twice daily these combinations help reduce mucus, regulate bowel frequency and improve digestion. additional guidance * eat at fixed times, do not skip meals * do not eat again until previous meal is digested * chew food properly * avoid overeating even if food is light what to expect since your history is more than 10 years, improvement will be gradual. in the first 4–6 weeks, aim for: * reduction in gas and stool stickiness * better appetite * more formed stools weight gain and energy improvement will follow later once absorption improves. important note one episode of red mucus should not be ignored if it repeats. if you notice recurrent blood/mucus, severe weight loss, or persistent weakness, get basic investigations like stool examination and consult a physician to rule out ibd. overall, your condition is manageable, but requires strict discipline in diet and routine along with proper medicines. patience is essential here.

Hello dear, It sounds like you have been navigating a very frustrating journey with your digestive health. Given your history of jaundice at a young age and your current symptoms specifically the significant weight loss, malabsorption (the “sticky” yellow stool often indicates undigested fats), and the “trapped gas” it is clear your digestive fire, or Agni, is struggling. In Ayurveda, your symptoms suggest a state of Grahani (often compared to IBS/Malabsorption syndrome) with a strong Vata-Pitta imbalance. Because you mentioned a history of liver swelling, we must also focus on Yakrit (liver) health to ensure bile flow is supporting your digestion. Mandagni (Weak Digestive Fire): Your body isn’t “cooking” the food properly, leading to Ama (toxins). This is why you feel weak after eating and see sticky stools. Vata Prakriti & Vyana Vata: The urgency to defecate after eating and the trapped gas are signs of aggravated Vata in the colon. Dhatu Kshaya: Because nutrients aren’t being absorbed, your tissues (Dhatus) especially muscle and fat are depleting, leading to weight loss and low energy. 1. To Correct Digestion and Absorption (Deepana-Pachana) Dadimasthaka Churna: This is excellent for “sticky” stools and urgency. It helps bind the stool and improves the absorption of nutrients. Dose: Take 3 grams (about 1 teaspoon) twice daily, mixed with thin buttermilk or warm water, about 15 minutes before meals. 2. To Support Liver Function and Bile Flow Heposem Tablets: Since you have a history of jaundice and are struggling with oily foods, your liver needs gentle stimulation. Dose: 1 tablet twice daily after food with warm water. 3. To Relieve Gas and Bloating Abhayarishtam: This is a fermented liquid that helps regulate bowel movements and clears trapped gas without being a harsh laxative. Dose: 20 ml mixed with 20 ml of lukewarm water, taken twice daily after lunch and dinner. 4. To Address Skin Issues and “Ama” (Toxins) Kalyanaka Ghritam: Once your digestion stabilizes (after 2 weeks of the above), you can introduce this medicated ghee. It helps with “Vaat” prakriti, skin issues, and provides the healthy fats your body is currently lacking. Dose: 1 teaspoon with warm milk or warm water on an empty stomach in the morning. Lifestyle & Diet Adjustments Modify the Wheat: You mentioned wheat roti makes you gassy. Wheat can be heavy (Guru). Try switching to Sorghum (Jowar) or Manna (Ragi), or ensure your wheat rotis are very thin and topped with a little A2 Cow Ghee to help digestion. Buttermilk (Takra): Since you already have curd/buttermilk, ensure the buttermilk is “Takra” style: 1 part curd to 4 parts water, whisked well, with the fat removed. Add a pinch of roasted cumin (Jeera) and ginger powder. This is “Amrit” (nectar) for Grahani patients. Sleep Hygiene: The puffiness under the eyes and lack of deep sleep suggests Vata is affecting your nervous system. Try applying a little warm sesame oil to the soles of your feet before bed. Weight Gain Strategy: Do not try to gain weight by eating “heavy” food yet. Weight gain will happen naturally once the absorption (Grahani) is fixed. Focus on easy-to-digest proteins like Mung Dal Khichdi with ginger and turmeric.

Hello, You’ve described a chronic digestive disorder with malabsorption, most consistent with an overlap of IBS + possible gut inflammation + low digestive fire in Ayurveda. Your weight loss, mucus, urgency, and fatigue are important red flags- so along with Ayurveda, I strongly advise at least one medical check (stool test, CBC, LFT, b12) to rule out inflammatory bowel disease or malabsorption syndromes Ayurvedic view -vata + pitta imbalance -mandagni= low digestion -ama (toxins) + grahani dosha -leads to sticky stool ,mucus, gas, bloating, poor absorption->weight loss, low energy Internal medications 1) For digestion and IBS -Hinguvachadi gulika= 1 tab twice daily before meals with warm water =reduces gas + improves digestion - Kutajaristham= 15ml+ water after meals twice =best for mucus, loose stools, IBS- type symptoms 2) For malabsorption and weight gain -Dadimasthaka churna= 1/2 tsp after meals with warm water =improves absorption + appetite -Ashwagandharishtam= 15ml with water after dinner =builds strength, weight, energy 3) For gut healing -Mahatiktakam kashaya= 15ml + equal water twice after meals =if inflammation/skin issue prominent, detox + gut healing 4) For skin (ringworm, /acne) -Nimbadi kashaya= 15ml + water twice after meals =blood purification External = neem oil or turmeric paste Diet most important -warm, freshly cooked meals -rice + moong dal khichdi best -boiled vegetables lauki, carrot, pumpkin -buttermilk with roasted jeera afternoon only -small frequent meals Avoid strictly -milk very important for you -wheat reduce/ avoid for 1 month -oily, fried food -curd at night -raw salads -cold food/drinks Daily routine FIX Morning empty stoamch -warm water + pinch of ginger + lemon After meals -sit in vajrasana 5-10 min Continue yoga -pawanmutkasana -anulom vilom -add= agnisar Kriya very helpful Your symptoms suggest -possible gut inflammation -possible lactose intolerance -weak metabolism The red mucus episode + weight loss should NOT be ignored Timeline -gas and stool improvement= 2-3 weeks -weight gain= 2-3 months -full recovery= 4-6 months Your issue is not just IBS- it’s weak digestion + poor absorption + vata imbalance Fix digestion-> absorption improves -> weight + energy return Do follow Hope this might be helpful Thank you

Your condition is mainly Low Agni (Mandagni) + Vata imbalance + Grahani (IBS-type problem) Because of this → poor digestion + malabsorption + weight loss Why you have these symptoms Sticky stool, mucus, urgency → Grahani disorder Gas, no hunger → weak digestive fire Weight loss → poor absorption Skin fungal issues → Ama (toxins) in body Weakness after food → improper digestion Improve Agni (most important) Morning empty stomach: Ginger + pinch of rock salt (small piece) Before meals 1tsp jeera + ajwain boiled water Medicines (simple) Hingwashtak Churna – ½ tsp with warm water after food Kutaj Ghan Vati – 1 tab twice daily (controls loose stool & mucus) Takra (buttermilk) + roasted jeera + black salt after lunch Diet Eat Warm, fresh, light food Rice + moong dal khichdi (best) Ghee (small amount daily) Avoid Milk (for now) Wheat if causing gas Oily, भारी food Raw foods, cold water

Based on the history which you given above about your chronic Mall observation yellow sticky stool and occasionally mucous with weight loss and gas it is pointing towards the grahni roga With a dominance of vara and Pitta There is also history of Jaundice which also pointing that you liver also need support 1) Dhanwantharam Kwath- 15 ml mix with 45 ml lukewarm water empty stomach early morning and evening 2) Dadimadi Ghritam- one teaspoon with lip warm water before breakfast 3) Hinguvachadi Gulika- one tablet with lukewarm water after lunch 4) Jeerakarishtam- 20 ml with equal amount of water after dinner 5) Manasamitra Vatakam- one tablet with lukewarm milk or water before bed Takra (Buttermilk): This is considered the best medicine for Grahani. Drink fresh buttermilk seasoned with a pinch of roasted cumin powder and ginger. Avoid cold or refrigerated food. Eat only warm, freshly cooked meals. Include pomegranate (Dadima), bottle gourd (Lauki), and easy-to-digest grains like old rice or Moong Dal. Strictly avoid milk (if causing gas), wheat (switch to rice or millets temporarily), refined sugar, and raw salads. Raw vegetables are harder for a weak Agni Eat at the same time every day. Do not drink large amounts of water immediately before or after meals; take small sips during the meal. Ensure a minimum of 7-8 hours of sleep. Since sleep is not deep, avoid screens 1 hour before bed. If possible go for stool routine test and LFT to rule out any infection. Continue the Vajrasana for 5-10 minutes after meals to aid digestion, but avoid strenuous exercise until weight stabilizes above 45 kg.

Hi Your condition is comparable to grahani roga described in ayurveda. The treatment should be planned in multiple stages, the first and foremost being correction of your digestive fire. That is your agni. Agni can be synonyms to your metabolic function also. Your symptoms also can be associated with tridosha vitiation with predominant pitta dosha kopa. So please follow the treatment plan as advised for atleast 2 weeks even if you are experiencing relief after 2 weeks. Also if you haven’t gone for a Calprotectin test yet, go for one. Also please reach out with updates on your condition after 1 week and please also go for a CBC,ESR,LFT,HSCRP, Stool examination if you haven’t done so. For your diet follow freshly cooked easily digestible preferably steamed food avoid spicy salty sour food fermented food fried food etc. also try and exclusion diet with gluten and Lactose. Note down any changes felt and reach back. Hope you get well soon
