🩺 ayurvedic view: this appears to be vyanga (melasma) due to pitta predominance with rakta dushti, commonly affecting facial skin without itching. 🌿 approach: focus on pitta shamana + rakta shodhana + gentle skin care. amla juice – 5 ml on empty stomach with lukewarm water mahamanjisthadi kashayam – 10 ml with equal water, twice daily before food arogyavardhini vati – 1 tablet twice daily after food 🧴 local care: apply paste of red masoor dal + jaiphal (nutmeg) + rose powder with raw milk or honey, once daily at night, apply a thin layer of shatadhauta ghrita after washing face during daytime, use a mild, non-irritating sunscreen and avoid harsh cosmetics 🥗 diet & routine: ✔️ include cooling foods like amla, leafy vegetables, adequate hydration ✔️ maintain regular sleep and reduce stress ❌ avoid excessive sun exposure, spicy, fried, fermented foods ⚠️ important: melasma is often influenced by sun exposure and hormonal factors, so consistency in care and protection is essential. ⏳ note: as this is a recent condition, good improvement can be expected with regular treatment, though gradual. — Dr Shubhi Goel, Ayurveda Consultant

In Ayurveda, melasma is often linked to “Vyanga”, caused by imbalance of Pitta dosha (heat, metabolism) Vata dosha (skin dryness, unevenness) So treatment focuses on: Cooling and detoxifying the system Improving skin quality External applications 🌿 Suggested Ayurvedic management RX- 👉Manjistha kwath 10 ml daily twice after meal. → blood purifier, improves pigmentation. 👉Sarivadyasava 10 ml daily twice. → Helps in Pitta balance and skin clarity 👉Khadiradi vati 1 tablet twice daily after meal. External (face application) Use 1–2 times daily: Kumkumadi Tailam → Apply at night, gentle massage Lodhra + Sandalwood + Multani Mitti paste → Apply 2–3 times/week for 15 min. Strict daily routine If you skip this, nothing will work: Sunscreen (SPF 30–50) every morning Reapply every 4-5hours Avoid: Direct sunlight Excess heat Harsh scrubs or chemical peels Drink: Plenty of water Coconut water / buttermilk 4. Diet changes (very important in Ayurveda) Reduce: ❌ Spicy, fried, oily foods Tea/coffee excess Fermented foods Include: ✅ Amla (Indian gooseberry) Leafy greens Fruits like pomegranate. Follow up after 1 month. Dr. Muskan Chopra Ayurvedacharyaa

Hello dear, It is completely understandable that persistent melasma can be frustrating, especially when you’ve already put in two months of effort with allopathy without seeing the results you hoped for. In Ayurveda, melasma is known as Vyanga. It is primarily viewed as a Pitta aggravation, where excessive heat in the body “burns” the skin tissue (Rakta Dhatu), leading to dark patches. Since you are in Ahmedabad, the heat can often exacerbate this. Here is a focused Ayurvedic approach using Kerala Ayurveda Pharmacy products to help balance your skin from within and externally. Prescription : Internal: Manjishtadi Kwath Take 15 ml mixed with 45 ml of lukewarm water, twice daily, 30 minutes before meals. This is a potent blood purifier that helps “cool” the Pitta and clear toxins that cause pigmentation. External: Kumkumadi Oil Apply 3–5 drops to the affected areas on your cheeks and nose at night after washing your face. Massage gently until absorbed. This contains Saffron and Manjistha, which are traditional lightening agents. Protection: Swarnamukhi Face Cream Apply a thin layer during the daytime. It acts as a natural skin nourisher and barrier against environmental triggers. Melasma is highly sensitive to UV. Even while using Ayurvedic oils, ensure you protect your face with a wide-brimmed hat or scarf when outdoors in Gujarat’s sun. Focus on “Sheetala” (cooling) foods. Incorporate fennel seeds, coriander water, and pomegranate into your diet. Avoid excessively spicy, salty, or fermented foods (like pickles or heavy curd) which can flare up Pitta. Since this is affecting your confidence, remember that stress itself can trigger hormonal shifts that worsen melasma. Gentle Pranayama (like Anulom Vilom) can help stabilize your internal system.

Melasma occurs due to increased Pitta dosha, aggravated by sun exposure, heat, stress, and hormonal imbalance, leading to dark patches on the face. –Diagnosis: Vyanga (Pitta–Rakta dushti) – facial hyperpigmentation —rx 1) Tab. Manjishthadi Kwath / Rasayan – 2 tsp with equal lukewarm water, twice daily Tab. Chandraprabha Vati – 1–1–1 after food 2) Aimil Lukoskin Oral Liquid – 15 ml twice daily after food —Local Application: 3)Aimil Lukoskin Ointment – apply thin layer on affected areas twice daily —Sun exposure: - apply sunscreen if ho outside –Advice: Strict sun protection (avoid direct heat/sun 10 am–4 pm) Pitta-pacifying diet (avoid spicy, sour, fried food) Stress control (yoga / pranayama) – follow up after 15 days

Melasma is not a quick-fix condition—even with allopathy it often takes 3–6 months for visible change. So lack of response in 2–3 months is common, not failure. In Ayurveda, it is usually due to pitta imbalance + hormonal/skin sensitivity. What to do: 1. Most important – Sun protection Daily sunscreen (SPF 30–50) Avoid direct sun 11 am–4 pm 👉 Without this, no treatment will work 2. Diet (very important) Avoid: Spicy, fried, sour, packaged food Excess tea/coffee Take: Coconut water, fruits, green vegetables Plenty of water 3. External care Apply aloe vera gel (fresh or pure) at night Or kumkumadi tailam (very small amount, night) 4. Medicines: Mahamanjishtadi kwath – 15 ml twice daily Arogyavardhini vati – 1 tablet twice daily Gandhak rasayan – 1 tablet twice daily 5. Timeline: Mild improvement → 3–4 weeks Visible lightening → 2–3 months Important: Avoid frequent changing of creams/treatments Stress and sleep also affect pigmentation Melasma can be controlled very well, but needs consistency + sun protection. Regards, Dr Raghuveer (Ayurvedacharya)
