Based on the Ayurvedic assessment, this appears to be a combination of Pitta aggravation with Ama accumulation and Vata imbalance in the colon (Pakwashaya). Her history of ulcerative colitis, irregular stools, skin irritation, hot flashes, disturbed sleep, joint pain, bloating, and morning fogginess suggest that digestion and tissue nourishment are not fully balanced. The good news is that her condition can often improve gradually with a gentle 3-month structured routine focused on calming inflammation, improving gut healing, reducing Ama, and stabilizing Vata-Pitta. Ayurvedic Understanding Soft stools, urgency, bloating → weak and sensitive Agni with colon irritation Skin itching, red painful eruptions, hot flashes → excess Pitta with Rakta dhatu irritation Joint pain, disturbed sleep, mental fog → Vata aggravation and tissue depletion Teeth marks on tongue + white coating → Mandagni and Ama accumulation Weight gain around hips → sluggish metabolism and hormonal imbalance Her body needs: Cooling but digestible foods Regular meal timings Gentle gut repair Better sleep rhythm Stress reduction Reduction of inflammatory triggers 3-Month Ayurvedic Plan Month 1 — Calm Inflammation & Reset Digestion Goal: Reduce Pitta, soothe colon, improve stool formation. Diet Eat warm, freshly cooked meals only Avoid: alcohol chips, fried foods excessive salsa/chili vinegar, fermented spicy foods processed gluten-free snacks Favor: soft cooked rice mung dal khichadi steamed vegetables squash, zucchini, carrots, asparagus small amount of ghee if tolerated pomegranate soaked raisins coconut water (not cold) Reduce raw salads temporarily Avoid skipping breakfast Morning Routine Wake before 7 am Sip warm coriander-fennel-cumin water 5 minutes deep breathing Gentle walking or stretching Helpful Ayurvedic Support Guduchi Shatavari Avipattikar (if acidity present) Kutaj preparations only if loose stools worsen Mahatikta or neem-based support only if skin symptoms become intense Sleep Avoid screens 1 hour before bed 1 tsp ghee in warm water at night may help Pitta and bowel lining Brahmi tea or chamomile tea in evening Month 2 — Strengthen Gut & Hormonal Balance Goal: Improve absorption, reduce cravings and inflammation. Add Regular lunch as largest meal Light early dinner by 7 pm Small quantity of cooked apples or pears with cinnamon Sesame seeds or almond milk for bone support Gentle yoga for hips, joints, and digestion Lifestyle Oil massage (Abhyanga) 3 times weekly with cooling oil like coconut + sesame blend Keep regular sleep timing even during travel between Minneapolis and Arizona For Hot Flashes & Skin Pitta increases in hot climates like Arizona, so: avoid direct midday sun hydrate well use aloe vera juice in small quantity if tolerated coriander and fennel are especially beneficial Month 3 — Rejuvenation & Stability Goal: Improve immunity, joints, mental clarity, and long-term bowel stability. Focus Areas Improve protein intake with easy digestion Continue anti-inflammatory diet Introduce mild strength exercises Meditation or stress management daily Rasayana Support Under supervision: Ashwagandha (only if heat symptoms reduce) Shatavari Guduchi Amalaki These may help: ✔ immunity ✔ joints ✔ sleep ✔ hormones ✔ tissue nourishment Important Food Guidelines Best Foods Rice Mung dal Steamed vegetables Pomegranate Fennel Coriander Small amount of ghee Herbal teas Limit Vodka/alcohol Excess seafood Spicy sauces Packaged foods Late-night eating Excess fasting Intermittent fasting is usually not ideal in Vata-Pitta conditions with ulcerative colitis because it can aggravate dryness, heat, and bowel sensitivity. Weather Advice Moving between cold Minneapolis and dry-hot Arizona can aggravate both Vata and Pitta. She should: maintain hydration avoid excessive sun exposure keep meal timings consistent use moisturizing oils on skin/scalp avoid very cold drinks in Minneapolis
From an Ayurvedic perspective, your symptoms suggest elevated Pitta (heat/inflammation) along with Ama (toxin buildup from incomplete digestion) and some Vata disturbance (sleep waking, joint pain, dryness/fogginess). -----Treatment Plan 1. Avipattikar Churna – 1 tsp with warm water at bedtime 2. Tab Gasex – 1 tab twice daily after meals 3.Gandhak Rasayan – 1 tab twice daily after meals 4. Haridrakhand – 1 tsp twice daily after meals with warm water 5. Livorite Syrup – 10 ml twice daily after meals 6. Ashwagandhadi Lehyam – 1 tsp at bedtime with warm water or warm milk 7. Jatyadi ghrit — optional if any pain in anal region apply it twice daily -----Pathya (Diet Advice) Warm, freshly cooked, simple diet Rice, moong dal, cooked vegetables Adequate hydration with warm water -----Avoid: alcohol, spicy food, fried food, fermented/sour food, processed snacks No fasting at present -----Apathya Alcohol (strongly aggravates Pitta + gut inflammation) Late-night meals Excess raw foods and heavy spices Irregular meal timings ----Lifestyle Advice 20–30 min walking daily after meals Anulom Vilom + Sheetali Pranayama (morning/evening) Fixed sleep timing (10:30 pm–6:30 am) Stress reduction practices (calming evening routine) -----Note Monitor stool consistency and skin response closely If any worsening of bowel symptoms (blood, urgency, flare signs), stop and reassess clinically
