In Ayurveda, conditions like a hiatus hernia and acid reflux are understood through the lens of Agni (digestive fire), Vata Dosha (specifically Udana and Apana Vayu, which govern the upward and downward movement in the body), and Pitta Dosha (specifically Pachaka Pitta, which governs acidity). Medicine for acid reflux 1. Kamdhudha ras 250mg Mukta sukti 250mg Prawal pisti 250mg Yastimadhu 10gm Avipatilar 10gm All this powder mix well and take 1/2 tsf BD after food with normal water 2.chandanasav 15ml BD with equal amount of water after food ••Dietary Adjustments (Ahara) Diet is the absolute cornerstone of reversing acid reflux. The goal is to keep meals light and non-irritating to prevent pressure on the hiatus. ••Small, Frequent Meals: Large meals stretch the stomach, pushing it further through the diaphragmatic hiatus. Switch to 4–5 small meals instead of 3 large ones. ••Pitta-Pacifying Foods: Incorporate cooling foods like bottle gourd (Lauki), ash gourd (Petha), pomegranate, cilantro, and soaked raisins. ••Avoid Triggers: Strictly avoid extremely spicy, sour, fermented (like curd, idli, dosa), citrus, and deeply fried foods, as well as caffeinated beverages. ••Gap Before Bedtime: Ensure there is a strict 2 to 3-hour gap between his last meal and going to sleep to prevent nighttime reflux. ••Posture After Meals: He should never lie down immediately after eating. Walking 100–200 steps (Shatapadi) post-meals aids downward digestion (Anulomana). ••Elevate the Head of the Bed: Elevating the head side of the bed by 4–6 inches using blocks (not just piling up pillows, which bends the neck and increases abdominal pressure) utilizes gravity to keep acid down. ••Avoid Tight Clothing: Ensure he doesn’t wear tight belts or trousers that increase intra-abdominal pressure. ••Vajrasana: Sitting in this pose for 5–10 minutes after meals significantly improves digestion. For hiatus hernia you go for surgery in ayurvedic is no more medicine to help in this condition…so for best results you go for surgery…
Hello, Hiatus hernia + chronic reflux can often be managed very well, and in mild to moderate cases symptoms may reduce dramatically over time, especially in younger people However, whether it can be completely reversed depends on -size/type of hernia -weight/body constitution -digestive habits -stress levels -severity of valve weakness -chronicity Ayurveda mainly helps by -reducing reflux episodes -improving digestion -reducing upward vata movement -healing irritation/inflammation -improving quality of life Large structural hernias usually need long term lifestyle management even if symptoms improve Ayurvedic view This usually involves -urdhwaga amla pitta (upward reflux tendency) -vata aggravation causing upward movement -weak digestion + valve laxity -pitta irritation in stomach/esophagus Treatment goals -reduce acid/reflux -prevent regurgitation -improve gastric emptying -reduce pressure on diaphragm/stomach -heal food pipe irritation -prevent long term complication Internal medications 1) Avipattikar churna= 1/2 tsp after lunch and dinner with lukewarm water =reduces reflux, supports digestion gently, helps acid regulation 2) Sutsekhar ras= 1 tab twice daily after meals =good for reflux, burning, nausea, stress related acidity 3) Yashtimadhu ghan vati= 1 tab twice daily after meals =soothes esophagus and stomach lining, helpful in regurtitation irritation 4) Kamdudha ras= 1 tab twice daily after meals =cooling support for pitta aggravation Most important= food management BEST HABITS -small frequent meals -eat slowly -early dinner -sit upright after meals -chew thoroughly Strictly avoid -overeating -lying down after meals -very spicy/oily meals -excess tea coffee -carbonated drinks -chocolate excess -citrus excess if triggering -late night eating Sleeping position Very important -elevate head side of bed slightly -sleep preferably on left side This alone can reduce reflux significantly Lifestyle and stress Stress worsens reflux strongly via -diaphragm tension -acid secretion -vagal imbalance Helpful -nadi sodhana -slow breathing -walking after meals Expected improvement with proper management 4-8 weeks -less regurtitation -reduced burning -better digestion Long term -reduced dependence on frequent antacids in many cases Hiatus hernia is partly structural, so Ayurveda may not remove the hernia itself in all cases But very often iit can -reduce reflux significantly -improve digestion -reduce inflammation -improve comfort and long term control Especially with -meal habits -posture -stress -weight management Are corrected consistently Do follow Hope this might be helpful Thank you
Hiatus hernia in first stage with ayurvedic medicine, can be reversed to a greater extent, but cure is difficult to comment. Start with Avipattikar churan 1tsp -0- 1tsp before food with water, will prevent reflux pain and burning. Kanchanar guggul1-0-1 after food with water Vriddhivadhik vati 1-0-1 after food with water. Avoid immediately sleeping after having meals. Avoid spicy food, heavy meals.
Hiatus hernia and reflux can often be managed very well with proper diet, lifestyle, and treatment, especially when triggers are controlled. Complete reversal depends on the size of the hernia and severity, but many patients get significant long-term relief. Avoid spicy, fried, sour foods, chocolate, cold drinks, and overeating. Keep dinner light and early. Do not lie down immediately after meals and keep the head slightly elevated during sleep. Avipattikar tablets – 2 tablets twice daily before food Sutshekhar ras – 1 tablet twice daily after food Yashtimadhu churna – ½ teaspoon with warm water twice daily With consistency, symptoms like reflux and regurgitation can improve gradually. Dear sindhu , As u know it is structural problem, best treatment is surgery but in this age am not in favour of surgery. Please send me reports here if the size and diameter is less i will be manage with medication only. Gastric reflux is in our hand to manage with medicine. If it possible for u please show me reports
