1. Why Your Current Remedy Isn’t Working While cumin, fennel, and ajwain are excellent carminatives (Deepana-Pachana), taking them with honey might be counterproductive in your current state. Honey is inherently heavy (Guru), sweet, and can further aggravate Ama if the digestive fire is too weak to process it. Furthermore, simply stimulating the stomach isn’t enough; we need to clear the deep-seated metabolic blockages. 2. Line of Treatment (Chikitsa Sutra) The treatment must follow a strict sequential order: Deepana-Pachana (kindling digestive fire and digesting toxins) \rightarrow Srotoshodhana (clearing body channels) \rightarrow Rasayana/Brimhana (nourishing and rebuilding muscle mass). Rebuilding muscle immediately without fixing digestion will only create more Ama. ••Step 1: Amapachana & Agni Deepana (Toxin Digestion & Fire Kindling) Before thinking about weight gain or muscle building, we must clear the stagnated sludgy toxins. ••Mustakarishta & Chitrakadi Vati: Chitrakadi Vati (1–2 tablets before meals) helps stimulate Jatharagni. Mustakarishta (15–20 ml with an equal quantity of lukewarm water after meals) helps digest Ama and relieves the immediate sensation of fullness. ••Panchakola Phanta / Churna: A mild decoction or powder of Panchakola (Pippali, Pippalimoola, Chavya, Chitraka, Nagara) is highly effective in treating Agnimandya (low appetite) and Apakti (indigestion). ••Modify Your Current Herbs: Stop taking the powder with honey. Instead, take a warm infusion of Ajwain and Dry Ginger (Shunthi) boiled in water, and sip it throughout the day. Step 2: Srotoshodhana (Clearing Channels) To address the doughy, saggy skin and fluid retention-like softness: ••Triphala Guggulu or Kanchnar Guggulu: Under supervision, these help metabolize excess, unhealthy Kapha accumulations in the tissues and clear the micro-channels so that nutrition can eventually reach the muscles. Step 3: Brimhana & Mamsa Rebuilding (Only After Appetite Normalizes) Once your tongue is clear (not coated), your appetite returns naturally, and fruits digest easily, you can transition to tissue-building formulations: ••Ashwagandha & Shatavari: Formulations like Ashwagandhadi Lehya or Ajamamsa Rasayana are highly specific for Mamsa Kshaya. ••Dravyas: Herbs like Bala (Sida cordifolia) and Ashwagandha act as Mamsavardhaka (muscle tone improvers) and will also address your sleep disturbances by calming Vata Dosha. 3. Dietary & Lifestyle Protocols ••Ushnodaka (Warm Water): Drink only warm water throughout the day. Cold water will instantly suppress your Agni. ••Dietary Pause on Raw Foods: Completely stop raw fruits and salads for a couple of weeks. Raw foods require a very strong Agni to break down. Switch entirely to warm, fully cooked, easily digestible meals like Moong Dal Khichdi spiced with a pinch of dry ginger, cumin, and black pepper. ••Sleep Hygiene: The sleep disturbance is tied to Vata vitiation caused by tissue depletion (Dhatu Kshaya). Applying warm Balashwagandha Oil or plain sesame oil to the soles of your feet (Padabhyanga) before bed can significantly improve sleep quality without burdening your digestion.
