Since you started taking Bhringrajasava about a week ago and have developed severe constipation with nausea and reduced appetite, it is possible that the medicine is not suiting your digestion. ----Stop Bhringrajasava temporarily for 5–7 days and observe whether your bowel movements improve. ----Increase your water intake to 2.5–3 liters daily, unless restricted by your doctor. -Include fiber-rich foods such as fruits, vegetables, soaked raisins, and whole grains in your diet. -Avoid fried, spicy, processed foods, and excessive tea or coffee. ----As you already have a history of chronic digestive issues, it is important to improve digestion and bowel regularity before continuing hair-growth medicines. ----A mild bowel-regulating Ayurvedic medicine such as Triphala may be considered under the guidance of an Ayurvedic physician. -----Once constipation improves, the dose of Bhringrajasava can be reviewed or an alternative medicine for hair fall may be advised. -----Please seek medical attention if you develop severe abdominal pain, vomiting, blood in stools, or are unable to pass stool or gas. -Hair health improves best when digestion, nutrition, sleep, and stress are properly managed, so correcting the digestive problem should be the first priority. -----Treatment Plan: 1) Stop Bhringrajasava for 5–7 days. 2) Triphala Churna – 5 grams with lukewarm water at bedtime. Duration: 7–14 days. 3) Avipattikar Churna – 3 grams twice daily after meals with lukewarm water. Duration: 2 weeks.

If constipation started after beginning Bhringrajasava and was not present before, it may not be suiting your digestion. You may • Reduce the dose to 10–15 ml with equal water twice daily after meals. • Increase water intake and include fruits such as papaya, soaked raisins, and vegetables in the diet. • Take Triphala Churna 3–5 g with warm water at bedtime for constipation. If constipation persists despite dose reduction, stop Bhringrajasava and consult an Ayurvedic physician for an alternative hair-support regimen. For hair health: • Bhringraj Churna 3 g twice daily after food. • Apply Bhringraj Taila to the scalp 3–4 times weekly

●Hello! I completely understand your concern. It is actually quite common to run into this when starting Bhringrajasava, and you don’t necessarily have to stop taking it just yet. Let’s look at this from a pure Ayurvedic perspective so you know exactly why this is happening and how we can easily fix it. Why is this happening? In Ayurveda, Bhringrajasava is an excellent remedy for hair growth because it targets Pitta dosha and nourishes the hair roots (Kesha). However, because it is an Asava(a naturally fermented liquid formulation), it inherently possesses Kashaya Rasa (astringent taste and Rooksha Guna (dry qualities). When you take it continuously, these dry and astringent properties can sometimes aggravate the Vata dosha in your lower digestive tract (the Apana Vayu region). Vata controls movement, and when it gets dry, it slows down bowel clearance, leading to Vibandha (constipation). Simple Adjustments You Can Make To balance the dryness of the syrup without losing its amazing benefits for your hair, try these simple clinical tweaks: Dilute it with Warm Water: If you aren’t doing so already, always mix your dose of Bhringrajasava (usually 15–20 ml) with an equal quantity of lukewarm water. This instantly counteracts the dryness. Take it After Meals: Make sure you are taking it roughly 15 to 20 minutes after a full meal, never on an empty stomach. Add a Natural Lubricant (Snigdha Dravya):To pacify the irritated Vata in your gut, introduce a little healthy fat. Having a teaspoon of cow’s ghee (Goghrita) mixed into warm milk or warm water at bedtime will lubricate the intestinal walls and ensure smooth morning elimination. Dietary Upgrades to Keep Things Moving While your body adjusts to the herb, give your digestive fire (Agni) a little support with your diet Boost Hydration:Drink plenty of lukewarm water throughout the day. Cold water slows down digestion, while warm water keeps Vata balanced. Fiber & Hydrating Fruits: Include soaked raisins (Draksha), ripe papayas, or prunes in your daily routine. Raisins are fantastic because they are naturally laxative and also support hair health! Avoid Dry/Stale Foods: For the next couple of weeks, cut back on deeply fried snacks, maida (refined flour), and very dry foods like biscuits or chips, which further dry out the colon. If you try these adjustments for 4–5 days and the constipation still persists, you might want to temporarily reduce the dose by half, or pause it and consult your local Ayurvedic practitioner to look at a alternative base vehicle (Anupana) tailored precisely to your digestive constitution (Kruthi). How many milliliters are you currently taking with each dose, and are you taking it once or twice a day?

I am prescribed 15 ml but i am taking 10 ml initially to know whether its suits me or not.Secondly raisin increases my throat pain so i don’t take it.And ghee also causes sore throat and a congestion for me as i have sinus problem.

••It is actually quite common for Bhringrajasava to cause mild constipation, especially when you first start taking it. Even though it is an excellent classical formulation for hair growth (Keshya), it is an Asava (a naturally fermented liquid preparation). Because it contains self-generated alcohol and astringent herbs, it possesses Ruksha (drying) and Ushna (heating) properties. This can occasionally dry out the moisture in your colon (Purisha Kledatva), leading to Vata aggravation and subsequent constipation. Since it is working beautifully for your hair, we don’t necessarily want to stop it altogether. Instead, we can easily balance its drying nature with a few simple Ayurvedic adjustments. 1. Adjust How You Take the Syrup The easiest way to counter the drying effect of an Asava is to alter its administration: Dilute it with Warm Water: Always mix your dose of Bhringrajasava (usually 15–20 ml) with an equal quantity of lukewarm water. Never take it neat. The warm water helps counteract the dryness and aids digestion. Take it Post-Meals: Ensure you are taking it strictly 15–20 minutes after a full meal (lunch and dinner), rather than on an empty stomach. 2. Add a Gentle Laxative & Liver Support at Night To counter the Ruksha (dry) quality that has already built up in your digestive tract, we need to introduce Anulomana (herbs that direct the movement of Vata downwards) and mild lubrication. Triphala Churna with Warm Water: Take 1 teaspoon (about 3–5 grams) of Triphala Churna with a glass of warm water at bedtime. Triphala is mild, non-habit forming, and excellent for both bowel regularisation and hair health (as it is a rich antioxidant). Cow’s Ghee (Goghrita): If the constipation feels very dry, try drinking a cup of warm milk with 1 teaspoon of pure cow’s ghee at bedtime. Ghee provides the necessary Snehana (internal lubrication) to counter the dryness of the syrup. 3. Dietary Tweaks While taking this formulation, your digestive fire (Agni) needs a bit of support to process the fermented formulation smoothly: Increase Hydration: Drink plenty of lukewarm water throughout the day. Include Dietary Lubrication: Avoid dry, stale, or excessively spicy foods. Ensure your current meals include healthy fats like a drizzle of ghee on your dal or rotis to keep the GI tract lubricated. ••After Meals (Lunch/Dinner)15 ml Bhringrajasava + 15 ml Lukewarm WaterContinues hair benefits while reducing gastric irritation. ••Before Bedtime1 tsp Triphala Churna in warm water OR Warm milk with 1 tsp GheeClears accumulated dryness and ensures a smooth morning bowel movement.
