What Is Normal BP? - #59987

I am really worried about my health lately. A few weeks ago, I was feeling super dizzy and had this pounding headache like nothing before, so I went to get checked out. Turns out my blood pressure was 140/70, which the doctor said is high but not dangerously so. I'm confused tho, is 140 70 blood pressure good or bad? Like, what does that even mean for me, y’know? They mentioned something about having high blood pressure and its effects, but I didn't really catch it all. I have been hearing a lot about how to decrease blood pressure naturally, like with diet or exercise, but honestly, I'm not sure where to start. I'm worried all these symptoms, like the headaches and that dizzy feeling, are from my high blood pressure. What are 5 symptoms of high blood pressure that I should look out for? And what's considered normal BP anyway? I mean, I really wanna get a handle on this before it turns into something serious. Any tips or advice would be super helpful!

High blood pressure, also known as hypertension, is a common condition that can lead to serious health issues if not managed properly. Effective management of high blood pressure typically involves lifestyle changes, medication, and regular monitoring.

Q: How to decrease blood pressure?
A: To decrease blood pressure, individuals can adopt a heart-healthy lifestyle that includes maintaining a balanced diet low in sodium, engaging in regular physical activity, managing stress, and avoiding tobacco and excessive alcohol consumption. Additionally, certain medications prescribed by a healthcare professional can effectively lower blood pressure.

Q: Is 140 70 blood pressure good or bad?
A: A blood pressure reading of 140/70 mmHg indicates that the systolic pressure (140) is in the high range, while the diastolic pressure (70) is considered normal. While the diastolic reading is acceptable, the elevated systolic pressure suggests that it is important to monitor and potentially address the high blood pressure.

Q: What are 5 symptoms of high blood pressure?
A: High blood pressure often presents with no symptoms, which is why it is known as a “silent killer.” However, some individuals may experience headaches, shortness of breath, nosebleeds, dizziness, or chest pain. Regular monitoring is essential, as symptoms may not appear until blood pressure reaches dangerously high levels.

Q: What is normal BP?
A: Normal blood pressure is typically defined as a reading below 120/80 mmHg. Values between 120-129 systolic and less than 80 diastolic are considered elevated, while readings of 130/80 mmHg or higher indicate high blood pressure. Regular check-ups can help maintain awareness of one’s blood pressure status.
