The Ayurvedic View: Can You Digest It?

Agni, the digestive fire, determines what happens to anything you swallow. Strong agni turns food into tissue. Weak agni turns it into ama — a sticky residue Ayurveda considers the root of sluggish metabolism and weight gain.
