what causes piles in female - #36939

I am really in need of some help. Lately, I’ve been dealing with this embarrassing issue, and I can’t figure out why. I am a 35-year-old woman, and I first noticed some discomfort a few months ago, you know, around that sensitive area. I didn't think much of it at first, but then I began to experience pain and even some bleeding. My friend suggested that I might have developed piles, which I think in ayurveda you guys call them "arsha," right? I mean, what causes piles in female specifically? It feels like I’m constantly battling with this condition, and I’ve really put myself through the ringer trying to figure things out. I sometimes have irregular bowel movements, and I’ve noticed that stress at work makes it worse. Could stress be a factor in what causes piles in female? I’ve started eating more fiber, drinking water, and trying to exercise, but the discomfort still lingers. I just really want to know if there are specific ayurvedic remedies or lifestyle changes that could help, or if I should be looking at something else. Am I missing a key aspect here? Any advice would be super appreciated!

Piles, or Arsha in Ayurveda, are often due to an imbalance in the body’s doshas, primarily a mix of aggravated Vata and Pitta. In females, apart from general causes, hormonal variations during the menstrual cycle, pregnancy, and stress can also intensify the condition. You mentioned irregular bowel movements—a common cause of this issue, as constipation or diarhhea can increase pressure and lead to the development of piles.

Stress can indeed play a significant role. High stress levels can upset the body’s natural rhythms, affecting digestion and leading to Vata imbalance, thus exacerbating piles. Incorporating stress-relief techniques like yoga or meditation might prove very beneficial. It’s good that you’ve already started with diet changes, this is essential. Additionally, you should consider eating smaller meals more frequently, instead of three large meals, as this aids in maintaining agni, or digestive fire, at an optimal level.

For specific Ayurvedic remedies, you might want to try Triphala at night, it helps regulate bowel movements and cleanses the digestive tract. Apply a paste of sesame oil mixed with turmeric externally to reduce inflammation and discomfort, but ensure the area is clean and dry before doing so.

Including herbs like guggul and neem in your diet or as supplements could also help, since they balance Pitta and reduce inflammation. Consume lukewarm water throughout the day to encourage better digestion and unclog doshas.

Regular exercise keeps the blood and energy flowing, reducing pressure in the rectal area. Avoiding sitting for prolonged periods is crucial, and try to take small active breaks if you have a sedentary job.

If symptoms persist or become severe, it’s important to seek medical intervention, but with these changes, you might find some relief. Remember to always consult with an Ayurveda practitioner before starting new remedies to tailor it specifically to your prakriti and condition.
