shilajit when to take - #37643

Evelyn

I am really confused about when to take shilajit. I started my wellness journey a few months ago after I felt super drained all the time—like, no energy at all, ugh! Just a bit of background, I’m 35, and I have a pretty hectic job plus two kids running around, which doesn’t really help with the tiredness. My friend recommended shilajit and said it helped her with similar issues, boosting her energy levels. But here’s my problem: I tried taking it in the morning, but I felt jittery for the rest of the day. Then I thought, maybe I should take it at night, thinking it could help with my sleep, but I still woke up feeling groggy, which isn’t ideal either! I read somewhere that shilajit can also be good for boosting stamina and that it even takes time to build up effects?? I don’t know, tho! What’s the best time to take shilajit, and does it matter if I take it with food or on an empty stomach? Should I take it daily or just a few times a week? Any advice would be awesome!!! I really want to feel better and not just like I’m dragging myself through the day! Thanks in advance!

Shilajit, an ancient mineral-rich substance revered in Ayurveda for its rejuvenative properties, can indeed be a great ally in boosting energy and vitality. However, the timing and manner of consumption are crucial to ensure you reap its full benefits without undesired effects like the ones you’ve experienced.

Typically, shilajit is best taken in the morning as part of your daily routine, but without causing the jittery feeling you’ve experienced. If it’s causing jitteriness, consider taking it after a light breakfast instead of on an empty stomach. The nutrients in food can help moderate the absorption of shilajit, minimizing any sudden surges in energy that might leave you feeling nervous or on edge.

Taking shilajit at night may not always be ideal for everyone. While it doesn’t directly induce sleepiness, its energizing properties can sometimes disrupt your natural sleep rhythm, leaving you feeling groggy the next morning as you described. Since shilajit takes some time for its effects to build up, maintaining a consistent routine is beneficial. Daily consumption is generally recommended for sustained results, possibly adjusting the dosage to find what suits your body’s response — starting with smaller amounts and gradually increasing if needed.

When incorporating shilajit into your regimen, focus on balancing it with your body’s natural dosha constitution and lifestyle. Managing stress through gentle yoga or pranayama can complement the adaptogenic qualities of shilajit, helping reduce the drained feeling you’re experiencing from a hectic schedule and family life.

Remember to source high-quality, purified shilajit. Impurities in lower-grade products can interfere with its benefits and might lead to unwanted side effects. If you continue facing issues even after these adjustments, consult with a local Ayurveda practitioner. They can provide personalized guidance, especially because every individual’s prakriti (constitution) and energy requirements can differ.
