–You’re experiencing ovulation-related pain, which can cause bloating and lower abdominal heaviness. However, because you’ve had symptoms for more than six months — including back pain, thigh pain, and severe constipation — we should evaluate further to rule out conditions like ovarian cysts or endometriosis. Your symptoms clearly indicate Vata aggravation, especially Apana Vata disturbance during ovulation. Ovulation pain + bloating + lower abdominal heaviness + back/thigh radiation + severe constipation together suggest: Udavarta (reverse movement of Vata) Apana Vata avarodha (obstruction) Mild Pitta association (since pain appears mid-cycle) Pre-menstrual mild pain shows Vata imbalance throughout cycle When Vata becomes dry, obstructed and upward moving, it causes: • Constipation • Gas retention • Ovulatory pain • Radiating back & thigh pain • Pelvic heaviness Since this is ongoing for more than 6 months, it needs systematic Vata shamanam. Immediate Vata-Calming Plan 1. Shirolepa for Udavarta Correction Apply paste of: Amalaki churna Sour curd Apply over scalp (especially crown region) for 20–30 minutes before bath during ovulatory phase. This helps regulate upward-moving Vata and corrects Udavarta pattern. 2. Jeera + Khanda Sharkara ½ tsp roasted jeera powder ½ tsp khanda sharkara Twice daily after food with warm water. Helps: Reduce bloating Improve digestion Ease pelvic pressure 3. Ghee with Milk (Night) 1 tsp cow’s ghee in warm milk at bedtime. This is crucial for: Softening stool Pacifying Apana Vata Reducing cycle-related dryness and pain 4. Nabhi Purana Warm castor oil Apply in umbilicus before sleep during ovulation week. Can also gently massage lower abdomen clockwise. Helps relieve: Pelvic spasm Constipation Radiating pain Internal Medicines for Pain (Short-term Support) Under supervision: • Dhanwantari Vati – 1 tab twice daily after food (NOT Dhanwantari capsules) OR • Coligo capsules – as directed These reduce Vata pain and pelvic congestion. Diet to Reduce Ovulatory Vata Increase: Warm cooked foods Moong dal Rice Ghee Garlic (small quantity cooked) Ajwain in food Avoid: Cold foods Raw salads Excess millets Dry snacks Fasting Overexertion during ovulation Bowel Regulation (Very Important) If constipation persists: Triphala ½ tsp at bedtime with warm water OR 1 tsp castor oil in warm milk once weekly (if suitable) Unless bowel clears, ovulatory pain will continue. If Symptoms Continue If ovulatory pain and constipation persist despite above measures, plan a Yoga Basti course under guidance of an experienced Ayurveda doctor. Basti is the best therapy for Apana Vata disorders and chronic cycle-related pain. Since your pain is moderate (4–6), this stage is still manageable and reversible with proper Vata correction.

Mid-cycle ovulatory pain with bloating, lower abdominal heaviness, back and thigh pain, along with constipation, usually indicates pelvic congestion and Vata-Pitta imbalance around ovulation. When bowels are not clear, pelvic pain often becomes more intense because pressure increases in the lower abdomen. Management should focus on regulating bowel movement, reducing inflammation, and supporting smooth ovulation rather than only suppressing pain. Supportive approach may include: • Mild Vata-balancing and uterine-supportive herbs such as Ashoka or Lodhra (based on suitability) • Gentle digestive regulation to correct constipation • Warm oil lower abdominal massage and mild castor oil application during non-period days (if suitable) • Avoiding excessive physical strain during ovulation window • Warm, light, easily digestible food around mid-cycle Since these symptoms are recurring for months, it is important to evaluate hormonal balance, digestion, and menstrual pattern in detail before starting medicines. A personalized consultation will help design a structured treatment plan to reduce ovulation pain and prevent progression safely.

Hi dear, The 1st thing I want to know is how old are you? How long does the pain last? Does it resolve with menstruation onset or persist throughout the cycle? Do you generally have constipation or is it felt only during the cycles? How is the bleeding during cycles, is it good or excessive or scanty? How many days does the bleeding last? Is there any clots? You said you are constipated, do you feel any pain or burning sensation while Passing bowel? Have you done any USG or hormonal assessment? Do you have any symptoms like hyperpigmentation over neck, weight gain, facial hair etc along with these symptoms? Any mood swings? How long is your cycle? After taking prescribed medications for 7 days reach out again with all these answers thought out and with these diagnostic tests performed if you haven’t already done so. Assessment of the route cause is important for a permanent solution. You should take Chandraprabha vati 1 tab twice daily after food Asokarishta 30 ml twice daily after food Tab menovos 2 tablet twice daily after food Dhanwantaram gulika 2tab thrice daily before food And cap brucast O 2 tab at bedtime. This will give you immediate symptomatic relief and will adress all kinds of apana vata distress as I inference from your complaints. This can also be the 1st step towards understanding the Root cause of your issues and towards a permanent solution. Also do balasana, sasankasana etc during cycles and asanana like pippalyasana on their days. It will help strengthen your pelvic floor muscles and improve health of reproductive organs.
