Which is the best medicine for hormonal imbalance in women? Also, can it be taken while breastfeeding? I have a thyroid condition and excessive thick hair growth on my chin and neck. Please suggest remedies to manage both. Please note that I delivered a baby girl one month ago and I am currently breastfeeding. My thyroid condition was diagnosed around 10 years ago, and I have been taking Thyronorm 100 mg since then. The facial hair issue has also been present for a long time (around 15 years). I am 38 years old.

1.Sathavarigulam 1.5 tsp twice daily with warm milk after meals 2.Dasamoolarishta 20 ml with 20 ml water twice daily after meals Remedies for Facial Hair (Supportive)---- Topical: Turmeric + Besan paste applied regularly can slow hair growth. Sariva + Sandalwood paste for cooling and skin health. Diet & Lifestyle— Favor fresh fruits, vegetables, whole grains. Avoid excess sugar, fried foods, and dairy excess (can worsen hormonal imbalance). Practice gentle yoga (postpartum safe: Setubandhasana, Shavasana, Pranayama). Ensure adequate sleep and stress management — both strongly affect hormones.

The condition you describe an Granthi disturbance which involves vata kapha dominance Since you are breastfeeding the goal is to balance hormone and manage the thyroid without affecting milk production Please keep the gap of at least 2 hours between the thyronorm and ayurveda medicine

Namaste, Your concerns — long-standing thyroid imbalance, facial hair growth, and recent postpartum phase with breastfeeding — indicate hormonal imbalance with vata-pitta involvement. At present, special care is needed as you are in the early post-delivery period. The focus should be on safe hormonal balance, nourishment, and avoiding anything that may affect breastfeeding or your baby. Continue your thyroid medication (Thyronorm) as advised and monitor levels regularly. Avoid starting strong hormonal or detox medicines immediately after delivery. Include warm, nourishing food like milk, ghee, moong dal, vegetables, and whole grains. Avoid very spicy, sour, and processed foods. Maintain good hydration and proper sleep as much as possible. Stress reduction and a calm routine are important for hormonal balance. For facial hair, internal medicines are usually avoided during early breastfeeding unless clearly needed. External care can be considered safely. Ayurvedic medicines with dose and timing (safe, mild support): Shatavari Kalpa – 1 teaspoon once daily with milk (supports nourishment and lactation) Dhatri Rasayan – 1 teaspoon once daily in the morning External care: Apply turmeric + gram flour paste (with milk or rose water) over affected areas 2–3 times a week to help reduce hair thickness gradually These are traditionally used to support gentle hormonal balance, improve strength, and provide nourishment during the postpartum period. For facial hair specifically, stronger hormonal correction medicines can be considered later (after breastfeeding phase or after 3–6 months with guidance). Improvement in hair growth is gradual and may take a few months with consistent care. Consult me for more advice and suggestions on the above medicines.

Hai dear, congratulations on your baby girl. As you guessed internal treatments should be mindful because you are currently breastfeeding. I hope you take regular follow ups and is adjusting your thyroid medications periodically. That being said taking shatavari gula 1tsp every morning on empty stomach and haridra khanda 1tsp with milk twice daily before food although these are not the traditional medicines used in thyroid, it is beneficial in soothing your skin, maintaining hormonal balance and hair growth . Also will aid in lactation and post pregnancy care of mothers. External application of nimbadi choorna will also be beneficial. Head oiling with brahmi taila will also be beneficial in reducing stress and overall health.

Continue on your Thyroid tablets. As you are breastfeeding we cannot give you too any medicines. The best you can take is Shatavari Kalp as it will help in your hormonal balance as well as help you as a lactative. Mix 1 tso in a cup of milk and take it twice a day
