in a patient with sickle cell anaemia we have to be very careful because joint pain in this condition is often due to vaso occlusive episodes and not just simple vata so any medicine should be chosen gently and according to her current state if the medicine you are referring to is mainly for digestion or bowels it may be used in small dose only if her digestion is stable no fever no crisis no severe weakness and no dehydration start with a low dose and observe for joint pain more important is to keep the body well hydrated avoid exposure to cold avoid overexertion and maintain regular meals you can give mild support like dashmool kashayam fifteen ml with equal warm water twice daily after food if tolerated and gentle external application of warm oil like mahanarayana taila over joints without deep pressure avoid any strong detox or purgation therapies in this condition if pain is severe associated with fever fatigue or breathlessness then it needs immediate medical care because sickle cell pain episodes should not be managed only with home remedies so yes it can be considered carefully in mild condition but not during active pain crisis and always in small monitored dose
1.Punarnavadi kwath 20 ml with 20 ml water twice daily after meals 2.Mahayograj guggulu 2 tab twice daily with water after meals 3.Mandur bhasma 125 mg (1 pinch) twice daily with honey after meals 4.Dashmoola haritaki 1 tsp once in the morning with warm water or milk before meals 5.Murivenna oil- massage on the knees with warm oil twice daily Critical Precautions ---- 1.Stay Hydrated: Dehydration is a major trigger for sickle cell crises. Ensure the patient drinks plenty of warm water throughout the day. 2.Avoid Self-Medication for Severe Crises: If the joint pain is accompanied by fever, chest pain, or extreme shortness of breath, please seek emergency medical care immediately, as this could be a Vaso-occlusive crisis.
