Dual vision, or the condition you’re describing where vision becomes impaired when using both eyes but stays clear with each eye individually, can be a challenge. From an Ayurvedic perspective, this may not just be about the eyes but could involve a deeper imbalance in the body’s system.
In Ayurveda, vision issues are often associated with imbalances in the Pitta dosha, which governs transformation and metabolism in the body, including the eyes. Here are a few suggestions that might help you:
First, diet is crucial. Pitta pacifying foods are cooling and might help balance your internal system. Favor foods like cucumbers, melons, leafy greens, and squashes. Avoid excessive use of hot, spicy, or fried foods, as they can aggravate Pitta.
Second, daily practices such as Trataka, a yogic eye exercise involving gazing at a fixed point, such as a candle flame, could strengthen the eye muscles and improve coordination. Do it for 5-10 minutes every day, but stop if you feel strain.
Third, herbal remedies like Triphala water washes might cleanse and refresh your eyes. Soak Triphala powder in water overnight, strain in the morning, and use the water to gently cleanse your eyes. Be cautious if your eyes are sensitive, consult an expert before trying home remedies.
Fourth, consider relaxing practices like Shirodhara. This involves a steady stream of oil poured on the forehead, relaxing the nervous system and potentially benefiting conditions related to nerve strain.
Lastly, while Ayurveda offers gentle yet powerful solutions, your unique condition suggests an underlying detail that may need more extensive investigation. I would recommend working closely with your healthcare provider to ensure you’re supporting your vision health comprehensively, as they’re well-positioned to offer critical insights and collaborate on finding effective solutions for your needs.
