how to cool body heat - #36089

Nora

I am really struggling with this body heat issue lately. Like, I never thought it could get this bad. I’ve tried everything from drinking loads of water to staying inside but nothing seems to help! Just last week, I went for a walk and felt like I was literally melting — my skin was so hot. My friends were saying that I might just be overdoing things, but I'm starting to think this could be more than just the heat outside. I looked up how to cool body heat naturally and tried some foods, you know like watermelon and cucumber, but I honestly feel like they barely made a dent. Plus, recently, I've been feeling this weird tiredness that kinda hits me out of nowhere. Maybe it's just old age creeping in?🤔 Last month, I went to a doctor, and they said my blood tests came back normal, but still, this heat situation is really bothering me...ugh! I’m curious if there are any herbal remedies or tips from Ayurveda that could really help with how to cool body heat. Maybe some specific herbs or practices? I feel like I need a lifestyle change or something. Anyone have suggestions? Anything will be appreciated!

When it comes to cooling down body heat with Ayurveda, understanding the concept of “pitta dosha” can be quite helpful, as its imbalance often leads to excessive heat in the body. Since you mentioned you already tried some cooling foods, let’s dig deeper into more precise Ayurvedic methods that might alleviate your discomfort.

Start with incorporating more foods that are cooling and naturally sweet, like rice, milk, and ghee. Bitter foods like leafy greens — spinach, kale, and especially bitter gourd, will aid in balancing pitta. Avoid excessively spicy, salty, and sour foods as they can exacerbate the heat. Coconut water is a great option — drink it once a day, as it’s inherently cooling.

Herbs are another excellent addition. Shatavari and Amalaki are particularly effective. They cool the body, nourish the tissues, and are gentle on the system. You could take Shatavari as a powder in warm milk or simply as a tablet if you’re short on time. Triphala powder at night, is beneficial for a gentle detox, supporting balance.

Stay mindful of your daily routine, also known as dinacharya. Engaging in a practice called “abhayanga”, which involves self-massage with cooling oils like coconut oil or sandalwood oil, followed by a warm shower, can help dissipate the body heat and calm the mind.

Avoid high-intensity workouts during the hottest part of the day. Try incorporating cooling and calming practices like morning yoga or evening walks when it’s cooler outside. Pranayama, especially Sheetali breath (where you inhaled through a rolled tongue), can help regulate body temperature too.

Ensure good sleep hygiene, as poor sleep increases body heat. Keep your environment cool, perhaps by using fans or light clothing. Remember, each individual is unique, and consulting an expert for personalized advice is recommended if symptoms persist.

For cooling body heat, an overproduction of the pitta dosha often can be responsible, given its fiery nature. A balanced pitta helps maintain normal temperature, but when aggravated, can create overheating. Incorporating a few Siddha-Ayurvedic practices can offer relief without feeling overwhelming.

First, consider incorporating aloe vera gel. Consuming a tablespoon mixed with water on an empty stomach in the morning acts as a cooling agent internally. It’s gentle but can be quite effective over time.

Another step: try Sandalwood paste. Applying it to the forehead can provide immediate cooling relief. You can also mix a small amount with a carrier oil and use it on your temples. The cooling properties help dissipate heat.

An often overlooked method is to maintain an optimal diet rich in cooling foods. Besides watermelon and cucumber, try adding more tender coconut water, amla, and diluted buttermilk. These have sheets (cool potency) that counteract heat.

For a more structured practice, incorporate breathing exercises like Sheetali Pranayama. Stick your tongue out, curl the sides, and inhale slowly through the mouth, then exhale through the nose. This helps regulate body temperature when done consistently.

Additionally, adapting your daily routine towards less intense physical activities during peak heat hours and ensuring regular sleep can aid the body’s natural cooling process.

If these don’t seem to improve the condition, or if new symptoms arise, consulting with a healthcare professional becomes crucial to rule out any underlying conditions. Maintaining self-care while attending to warning signs allows a safe exploration of these traditions.
