Doctors’ responses

Hello SGV, please get your child examined from a local Ayurvedic Pediatrician for a proper examination and diet check. Continuing any medication for 8 months may not be an ideal option especially for children. The doctor will guide on improving the functioning of respiratory system and also help in gaining weight.

Respected Sir, thank you for reaching out regarding your daughter’s health. Pankajakasturi Breathe Easy syrup is generally safe and beneficial in reducing symptoms of respiratory allergies and adenoid issues, particularly if it has shown a 50% improvement in her symptoms. However, given her age and weight, 8 ml per day may be a sufficient dosage, but it’s recommended to consult an Ayurvedic pediatrician to confirm this dosage and ensure long-term safety. Ayurveda suggests additional supportive treatments for adenoids and allergic rhinitis, such as Sitopaladi Churna, Talisadi Churna, and Haridrakhandam, which may help further relieve her symptoms and support her respiratory health. It's essential to monitor her weight closely, as children with allergies sometimes experience digestive imbalances that contribute to lower weight. Pankajakasturi, when used in recommended amounts, typically has no adverse effects, but since she's been on it for 8 months, it would be wise to review her treatment plan with a nearby ayurveda practitioner. Additionally, warm herbal steam inhalations, light massage with Saindhava Lavana (rock salt) over the sinuses, and dietary adjustments (such as reducing cold and fried foods) can be helpful to prevent symptom flare-ups.

Thank you madam, Thanks for your advice
Hey Naveen, sounds like you're doing your best for your little one, but let's dive a bit into what Ayurveda might say about this. First off, 8ml daily of that syrup seems quite okay for her age and weight. Given the positive response you're seeing, it's likely doing some good. But 8 months is a long run, so maybe, try taking a short gap every few months to see how her system handles it without. And definitely ring your doc if you notice anything odd. Adenoids and allergic rhinitis are interesting - from an Ayurvedic view, they usually touch on imbalances in Kapha and Vata doshas. You might want to consider incorporating a couple more remedies. Have you heard of Talisadi Churna? It's often a good fit for respiratory stuff and can be mixed with a bit of honey for her, say a pinch, twice daily. As essential as medicines are, lifestyle and diet modifications go a long way too. Keep her diet light and warm—thin veggie soups with gentle spices like turmeric and ginger can be great, evening out that Kapha. Also, make sure she's drinking warm water, as cold drinks can really spike congestion. Also, daily Nasya with a drop of Anu Oil in each nostril might help to open her nasal passages and ease breathing naturally. Do it gently, though. As for side effects, generally these remedies are safe, but every child is unique. Watch her closely for changes, especially since she's underweight. Lastly, don't hesitate to have regular check-ins with a pediatrician or Ayurvedic physician to keep tabs on her growth and well-being. Sometimes, blending both systems gives you the best outcome, and you're already looking out so well for her. Hang in there!
