How can I reduce high Vata and improve my skin health? - #51584
I have high vata, due to which my skin remains dry, I love exercise and yoga & I don't want to stop even if they make it better. I have stopped long intermittent fasting and only do it for max 14-15 hours. I eat warm, healthy food. What else should I do to bring Vata down and improve my skin

Doctors' responses
1. Daily Oil Massage (Abhyanga) Do daily abhyanga with warm sesame oil before bath. Best oils: Sesame oil (best for Vata) Bala Ashwagandha oil Ksheerabala oil Leave oil for 20–30 minutes before bathing. Benefits: Nourishes skin Improves circulation Reduces dryness and anxiety Stabilizes Vata 2. Vata-Pacifying Diet Focus on warm, oily, grounding foods. Recommended foods: Ghee (1–2 tsp daily) Warm milk with turmeric or saffron Soaked almonds Moong dal khichdi Sweet fruits (mango, dates, figs) Root vegetables (sweet potato, carrots) Avoid: Dry foods (chips, popcorn) Excess raw salads Cold drinks Excess caffeine These aggravate Vata Dosha and worsen skin dryness. 3. Ayurvedic Herbs for Skin & Vata Helpful herbs: Ashwagandha – nourishes tissues and reduces Vata Shatavari – improves hydration and skin glow Manjistha – purifies blood and improves complexion Amalaki – rejuvenates skin Example combinations: Ashwagandha + milk at night Manjistha + Amalaki for skin health 4. Exercise & Yoga (No Need to Stop) Exercise is fine but avoid excessive Vata aggravating activities. Best yoga: Slow Surya Namaskar (moderate pace) Balasana Viparita Karani Tips: Avoid overtraining Finish exercise with grounding breathing (pranayama). 5. Skin Nourishing Practices Apply ghee or almond oil on face at night Use milk + sandalwood face pack Drink warm water throughout the day Maintain proper sleep (10–6) to stabilize Vata 💡 Simple Vata Skin Routine Morning Warm water Abhyanga with sesame oil Warm breakfast Day Warm meals Hydration Night Ashwagandha milk Early sleep
