Doctors' responses

Your current medicines Effient – blood thinner Metoprolol – for blood pressure/heart Rosuvastatin – for cholesterol Mounjaro – for type 2 diabetes Can Triphala be taken? Triphala is generally considered safe, but in your case there are some concerns: 1️⃣ Increased bleeding risk Triphala can have mild blood-thinning effects. Since you are already taking Effient, combining them may increase bleeding risk (nosebleeds, bruising, bleeding gums). 2️⃣ Blood sugar effects Triphala may lower blood sugar slightly. With Mounjaro, this could sometimes lead to low blood sugar, especially if meals are irregular. 3️⃣ Absorption of medicines Because Triphala acts as a mild laxative, it can sometimes affect absorption of medicines if taken at the same time. If a doctor approves using Triphala General precautions usually advised: Take low dose (e.g., ½ tsp powder at night) Keep 2–3 hours gap from other medicines Stop if you notice loose stools, dizziness, or bleeding Safer approach for digestion Since your diet is mostly healthy but you have occasional gastric issues, safer options may include: Warm water after meals Small amount of jeera or fennel after food Fiber from fruits/vegetables Important Because you are on a blood thinner and diabetes medication, it is best to ask your doctor or an Ayurvedic physician who knows your medical history before starting Triphala.
