Hello, Bachchon mein habitual constipation (Purana kabz) aksar “Stool Withholding” ki wajah se hota hai. Jab motion hard hota hai, toh dard ke dar se bacha pressure nahi lagata aur usey hold karne lagta hai. Isse constipation aur badh jata hai. Ayurveda mein ise “Vata Dosha” ki imbalance mana jata hai. Kerala Ayurveda ki medicines intestinal lubrication (snehan) aur mal-shodhan (cleansing) mein bahut effective hain. Medicines 1. Laxoberry Syrup: Yeh khas taur par bachchon ke liye hai. Isse pet saaf hota hai bina kisi dard ke. Dose: 5ml se 10ml, raat ko sone se pehle gungune pani ke saath. 2. Gandharvahasthadi Castor Oil: Yeh purane kabz mein lubrication ka kaam karta hai. Dose: 2-5ml ko thode se gungune doodh mein milakar raat ko dein. 3. Abhayarishtam: Yeh digestion improve karta hai aur motion ko regular banata hai. Dose: 5ml dawa ko 5ml pani mein milakar din mein do baar khane ke baad dein. Bacha Khud Pressure Kaise Lagaye? Bache ko pressure lagane ke liye force na karein, balki ye techniques try karein: Toilet Training (Squat Position): Agar bacha Western toilet use karta hai, toh uske pairon ke niche ek stool (potty chair) rakhein taaki uske ghutne uske chest ke pas rahein. Yeh position pelvic muscles ko relax karti hai aur pressure lagana asaan ho jata hai. Abdominal Massage: Subah khali pet bache ke pet par clock-wise direction mein hing mile huye gungune til ke tel (Sesame oil) se halki malish karein. The “Blow” Technique: Bache ko bole ki motion karte waqt bubbles fulaye ya kisi toy whistle ko bajaye. Isse abdominal pressure natural tarike se badhta hai aur bacha bina dare push karta hai. Fiber & Hydration: Diet mein kismis ka pani (soaked raisins), munnaka, aur hari sabziyan badhayein taaki stool soft rahe. Stool soft hoga toh bacha apne aap pressure lagane se darega nahi.

From an Ayurvedic perspective, your child’s problem is not just simple constipation—it is mainly due to weak Agni (digestive fire) and Vata imbalance. Since the constipation has been present for more than 2 years, it clearly shows that the digestion is not functioning properly, and over time the child has also developed a fear of passing stools. When a child avoids applying pressure, it becomes both a physical and psychological (fear/anxiety) issue. The most important thing to understand is that giving laxatives alone will not provide a permanent solution. As long as the Agni is weak, the problem will keep coming back. So the first focus should be on improving digestion (Agni) and balancing Vata. You need to make some dietary changes. Give the child light and easily digestible food. Increase fiber intake with fruits like papaya, pineapple, and pomegranate, and vegetables like bottle gourd (lauki), ridge gourd (tori). Reduce heavy, processed, and dry foods. Adding a small amount of ghee daily is very helpful, as it balances Vata and helps in smooth bowel movement. Also, try to make the food innovative and attractive you can prepare vegetable parathas, smoothies, soups, or mix vegetables into dishes in a way that your child enjoys eating them easily. For Ayurvedic medicines, you can use: Avipattikar Churna – ½ teaspoon at night with lukewarm water Aragwadharishtam – 1 teaspoon twice daily after meals These help in improving digestion, balancing Pitta, and promoting natural bowel movement. Along with this, follow a simple remedy: apply castor oil (arandi oil) on the child’s navel at night. This helps in calming Vata and gradually encourages natural bowel habits. Also, do not force the child. Work on reducing fear slowly. Take the child to the toilet at a fixed time daily (preferably morning) just to build a habit, without pressure. In short: first correct the Agni, then Vata will balance, and constipation will improve naturally. With consistency, you should start seeing improvement within 3–4 weeks. Thank you, I hope this helps your child.

Bachche me yeh problem aksar fear aur habit ki wajah se hoti hai. Ek baar hard stool ya pain ho jata hai, to bachcha pressure dene se darne lagta hai, isliye wo rokta hai aur constipation continue rehta hai. Sabse pehle uska fear kam karna zaroori hai. Force na karein, daantna bilkul nahi. Roz ek fixed time (especially breakfast ke baad) toilet par 5–10 min baithne ki habit dalwayein, chahe motion aaye ya na aaye. Diet me fiber badhayein. Fruits (papaya, banana), vegetables, aur thoda ghee include karein. Biscuit, junk food aur dry food kam karein. Ghar par raat ko sone se pehle 1 tsp ghee garam doodh me dena helpful rahega. Pet par halka warm oil massage bhi kar sakte hain. Triphala syrup (for kids) – 5 ml raat ko Livoluk syrup – 5 ml raat ko Yeh stool ko soft karega aur dheere dheere natural urge develop karne me madad karega. Consistency bahut important hai. 2–3 mahine tak regular follow karna padega tab habit improve hogi. Regards, Dr Raghuveer (Ayurvedacharya)

Aapke case me jo pattern hai — 2 saal se constipation + pressure na lagana + toilet se dar — yeh typical Functional Constipation ke saath stool withholding habit ka sign hai. Isme bachcha jaan-bujhkar pressure rokta hai kyunki usse pehle kabhi pain hua hota hai. Iska solution sirf medicine nahi hai — habit training + gut softening + fear removal teenon ek saath karna padta hai. 1. Sabse important: pressure lagana kaise sikhaye Bachcha consciously “push” nahi seekhta jab tak usko safe feel na ho. Daily routine banaye: Roz khane ke baad (especially breakfast ke baad) 10–15 min potty seat par bithaye Chahe motion aaye ya na aaye — bas sitting habit banani hai Pair niche support par hone chahiye (footstool) → isse natural pressure lagta hai Bachche ko force ya daantna bilkul nahi Trick: “Balloon phulao” ya “mombatti bujhao” game khelaye → yeh abdominal pressure sikhata hai without fear 2. Aap jo remedies pooch rahe ho (Ayurveda-based support) Castor oil (Erand tail) Nabhi ke 4 taraf clockwise massage (5–7 min, raat ko) Anal region par halka lubrication (before potty time) → stool passage easy hota hai, fear kam hota hai Ghee in diet: Har meal me 1–2 tsp desi ghee add kare → stool soft + vata pacification Pakka hua banana mash karke Isme Balchaturbhadra Churna milakar de 1/2 chammach → digestion improve + mild bowel regulation 3. Diet correction (yeh bahut zaroori hai) Aapne bataya fiber low hai — yeh main cause hai. Add kare: Soaked raisins (kishmish) morning Papaya, pear, chikoo Oats / daliya Moong dal Thoda sa warm milk at night with ghee Avoid: Excess milk (kabhi-kabhi constipation badhata hai) Refined food, biscuits, chips 4. Fear & anxiety ko treat karna Aapke case me yeh major factor hai. Potty training ko stress-free game banaye Reward system (sticker, small praise) use kare Kabhi bhi “jaldi karo / zor lagao” na bole

Remember bacche upto age of 6 constipation is normal. Correct the following habits: -Include fruits in the diet -High fiber vegetables should be given specially in dinner. -Liquid quantity should be more in dinner. -Add hing (asoefotedia) and dry ginger powder in the meals. -Freshly cooked hot food should be must. -Avoid cheese, maida, biscuits and other such ready to eat food speciially during dinner. -100 steps walking after milk. -Soak 20 black raisens at night and give him to eat in the morning. Hot cup of milk with a tsp of ghee at night is the basic medication you should start with along with above directed lifestyle and food habits If that desnot work give him ISABGOL 1 tsp soaked in 1 glass of water for half an hour at bed time.
