I recently had a blood test, and my doctor explained that my white blood cells (WBCs) were slightly elevated, which got me curious about their role in the body. From what I understand, white blood cells are responsible for fighting infections, but I am still unsure how they actually work and what affects their levels. What I do not understand is whether having a high or low white blood cell count is always a bad thing. Can stress, poor diet, or lack of sleep affect WBC levels, or is it usually a sign of infection or disease? Since I prefer natural healing approaches, I want to know if Ayurveda has ways to support healthy white blood cells and improve immunity. Are there specific herbs, such as Ashwagandha, Tulsi, or Giloy, that can help regulate WBC function and keep the immune system balanced? I am also curious about whether digestion and gut health play a role in white blood cell production.
