how to prevent from dengue - #36741

I am really stressed about this dengue thing going around. Just last week, my neighbor got really sick and ended up in the hospital. It was a total shock! I mean, we always hear about dengue, but when it’s so close to home, it feels more real. I've been trying to figure out how to prevent from dengue because I have two kids, and I can’t imagine them getting sick like that. I've read a bit about how to prevent from dengue, like using mosquito repellent and having screens on the windows, but honestly, I feel like I need something more actionable. We’ve been keeping the house tidy and all, but there’s still standing water around our area, and it worries me. I also heard about natural remedies and some herbal solutions that could be effective in preventing dengue. Do you think there's a specific ayurvedic approach or diet that can help protect us better? I’m really looking for ways on how to prevent from dengue that are safe for kids too. Any tips or guidance would be super helpful! Thanks in advance!

To prevent dengue effectively with Ayurvedic practices, we focus on repelling mosquitoes and boosting the body’s immunity. First, it’s crucial to clear any standing water in and around your home as this discourages mosquito breeding. If controlling the water isn’t feasible in your area, try to use natural repellents. Essential oils such as citronella, eucalyptus, or neem oil can be mixed with a carrier oil like coconut and applied to exposed skin. It’s gentle enough for kids but effective in keeping mosquitoes at bay for a few hours.

Creating fumigations at home can also be beneficial. Burning neem leaves or using cow dung cakes with guggul (Commiphora wightii) and camphor can purify the air. This traditional method is known to drive away insects and is an add-on protection method you can easily adopt.

In terms of diet, focus on strengthening your immunity. Include ginger and turmeric in meals as they have strong anti-inflammatory and immune-boosting properties. A decoction of tulsi (Holy Basil) leaves is highly recommended in Ayurveda. Boil a few leaves in water and consume it regularly for strengthening the immune system. This is safe for kids too, but it’s good to give them a mild concoction.

Amla (Indian Gooseberry) is another excellent choice, being rich in vitamin C. It can be given as fresh fruit, dried powder, or juice. Also include plenty of fresh fruits, green leafy vegetables, and hydration to balance your body’s doshas and increase its natural defenses. Trikatu (a mixture of long pepper, black pepper, and ginger) and chitrakadi vati can help enhance agni or digestive fire, helping in building stronger immunity.

If you’re concerned about unforeseen exposure, keep family members protected with mosquito nets at night. Dormant windows should have effective screens to prevent entry points for mosquitoes, and wearing light-colored, long-sleeve clothing is also advisable.

While these approaches can indeed reinforce your defenses, never substitute them for proven, urgent medical treatment if someone in the family displays dengue symptoms. Pryor to using any any natural products on children, a brief pediatric consultation can confurm their safety.
