Giloy (Guduchi) is a well-known Ayurvedic herb for improving immunity and managing recurrent cold and cough. In children, it can be used safely when given in the correct dose and for an appropriate duration. For a 6-year-old child, giving Giloy tablets 2–3 times a week can be acceptable, provided the dose is adjusted according to age. Adult-strength tablets should not be given in full; usually a reduced dose (around one-fourth to half tablet, depending on the strength) is more suitable. In your child’s case, since there is good appetite, no ongoing medication, and no history of reactions, Giloy is likely to be well tolerated. It is generally safe and does not produce side effects when used in mild doses. However, like any herb, it should not be used continuously for very long periods without a break. I suggest using it in cycles, such as for 6 to 8 weeks followed by a gap. It can also be given during seasonal changes or at the onset of symptoms rather than throughout the year. Watch for any changes such as loose stools, reduced appetite, or unusual tiredness. If any of these appear, it is better to stop and reassess. In children, liquid preparations or mild formulations are often better tolerated than tablets. Along with Giloy, maintaining good dietary habits is equally important. Avoid cold and processed foods, especially at night, and encourage warm fluids. Additionally, you may consider SN Herbals Suvarna Sanskaram in avaleha form, 2 grams once daily, which can help in improving overall immunity, strength, and resistance to recurrent infections in children. Overall, your approach is reasonable, but proper dosing and periodic use are important to ensure safety and effectiveness. If the child continues to have frequent infections, a more tailored Ayurvedic plan may be beneficial.

Hello, Instead of giloy tablets you can give for cold and cough the following- 1. Sitopaladi churnam 1/4 tsp mixed with honey; need to be licked 3 times a day only till symptoms reduce. To improve the immunity- 1. Aravindasavam 10ml—0—10ml after breakfast and after dinner with 10ml of boiled cooled water, for 30 days(whenever there is a season change).

🌿 Recommendation For improving immunity, start Swarna Prashan using a trusted brand like Krishna Ayurveda or BabyOrgano. 💧 Dose - 1 drop daily - Morning empty stomach ⚠️ Instructions - Keep 15–30 minutes gap before food - Avoid during fever or acute illness - Use regularly for best results ⏳ Duration - Continue for 3–4 months 🌿 Benefits - Improves immunity - Reduces frequent cold/cough - Enhances memory & growth ⚖️ Why better than immunity tablets Swarna Prashan works as a Rasayana (deep nourishment therapy), improving immunity from the root level. Most immunity tablets provide temporary support, whereas Swarna Prashan helps in long-term strengthening of the body and mind when used regularly. 🧠 Advice Daily Swarna Prashan alone is often sufficient for immunity if given consistently along with proper diet and routine.
