••Here is the traditional Ayurvedic protocol for post-extraction healing, adapted for immediate care: 1. Immediate Dosha Pacification (Days 1–3) Kavala & Gandusha (Oil Pulling / Holding): Do not swish aggressively, as this can dislodge the crucial blood clot. Instead, perform Gandusha—fill your mouth completely with lukewarm Irimedadi Taila or plain Til Taila (Sesame Oil) and hold it perfectly still for 2–3 minutes before gently letting it flow out. ••Why: Irimedadi Taila is a classical Ayurvedic formulation specifically engineered for dental health (Mukha Rogas). It is profoundly Vata-pacifying, analgesic, and accelerates wound healing. ••Cold Infusions (Pitta Shamana): To manage residual swelling and heat, you can hold lukewarm to cool Yastimadhu (Licorice root) Kwath (decoction) in your mouth. Licorice is a natural Vrana Ropana (wound healer) and acts as a mild anti-inflammatory. 2. Internal Support for Wound Healing (Vrana Ropana) To support the socket from the inside out, classical herbo-mineral supplements can be highly effective: ••Triphala Guggulu or Laksha Guggulu: Guggulu formulations are excellent for bone and deep tissue healing. Laksha Guggulu specifically targets bone remodeling (ideal for the jaw bone socket where the split root was removed), while Triphala Guggulu prevents local inflammation and secondary infection. ••Standard dosage: 1–2 tablets twice a day with lukewarm water after meals. ••Turmeric & Milk (Haridra Ksheera): Drink a cup of warm milk boiled with half a teaspoon of Haridra (Organic Turmeric) and a pinch of black pepper at night. Turmeric is a potent Vishaghna (anti-microbial) and Shothahara (anti-inflammatory) that helps clean the blood and soothe Vata-induced pain. 3. Diet and Lifestyle (Ahar-Vihar) ••Shita & Drava Ahara (Cool, Liquid Diet): For the first 48 hours, stick to cool or room-temperature liquids and semi-solids. Warm or hot foods will aggravate Pitta and can trigger bleeding. ••Vata-Pacifying Foods: Opt for Manda (rice water), Yusha (thin mung dal soup), or very soft, mashed Khichdi once the acute phase passes. Ensure it is seasoned minimally (avoid green/red chilies entirely). ••Rest: Avoid strenuous physical activity, lifting heavy weights, or speaking excessively for the first 2-3 days, as these activities direct Prana Vayu upward and can disturb the healing socket. Important Clinical Precautions ••Avoid: Do not use straws, spit forcefully, or smoke. The suction created can cause a Dry Socket (Sushira), which causes severe Vata-type radiating pain. ••Brushing: Avoid brushing directly over the extraction site for the first few days; instead, rely on gentle herbal rinses.
Thank you so much for your comprehensive & considered reply.your reference to the split root proves to me that toh Re answering personally. I very much appreciate that. I have never used this site or ayurvedjc medicine before, as have never been able to afford it. But I have been a lifelong Siddha of the T.M. movement & totally believe in both. Might you be able to supply me with just the essential medicines? Though if you ate in India, I suppose I should look within my own country UK. Anyway, thank you so much for your detailed help & advice. 🙏✨️
Thank you for your reply. Regarding the medicines I suggested, you may take 1.Triphala Guggulu—one tablet in the morning and one in the evening—after meals with plain water.
2. I also strongly recommend that you try the Gandusha (oil pulling) technique I mentioned; it will be highly beneficial for you.
If you are satisfied with my response, you may leave a review and select my answer to close this consultation. Wishing you a wonderful and healthy life!
