what not to eat during piles - #37443

David

I am really struggling with piles right now. A few weeks ago, I started experiencing a lot of pain and discomfort, and after visiting the doctor, they said it was piles. They also gave me some cream and advised on some dietary changes but honestly, I just feel overwhelmed with what to do! I’ve read articles online about what not to eat during piles, but there’s just so much conflicting information. My friend insists that dairy is a no-go, while another says I should avoid spicy foods and still others think red meat should be off my plate. Like, I love a good curry but if that's what not to eat during piles then I'm not sure what to do. I’m also a bit of a snacker, so the thought of giving up chips or chocolate kinda freaks me out, you know? I’ve been trying to eat more fruits and veggies, but I’m not sure if I’m choosing the right ones. So what are the real deal-breakers here? Can anyone give me some clear guidance on what not to eat during piles? Just hoping to find some clear answers so I can start feeling better soon! Thanks in advance!

During piles, ayurveda emphasizes reducing the intake of foods that aggravate vata and pitta doshas, which can exacerbate symptoms. First, minimize spicy and overly hot foods — they can irritate the digestive tract and worsen inflammation. While a good curry is delicious, it’s better to choose milder variations until the condition improves. Including excessive chilies, ginger, and black pepper in your meals could add to the discomfort. Similarly, avoid tangy foods like pickles and sour fruits they can increase pitta, which isn’t helpful in piles cases.

As for dairy, it’s about balance. Some find it difficult to digest milk and cheese, this can contribute to constipation, a condition you certainly want to avoid. If you include dairy, go for buttermilk. It’s lighter and often easier to digest than milk.

Turning to red meat, it’s best to limit it due to its difficult-to-digest nature. Instead, protein source like lentils or legumes can be beneficial. These help in maintaining good digestion without being as heavy on the gut. When it comes to snacking, chips and processed, high-fat options should be reduced. They might taste tempting but often lack fiber and can lead to sluggish digestion, not ideal for piles recovery.

It’s also vital to focus on including high-fiber foods, as they help keep stools soft and easier to pass, reducing strain. Opt for veggies like sweet potatoes, gourds, carrots, and fruits such as papaya or ripe bananas, which aid in smooth digestion. Stay hydrated too, as water supports fiber’s role in bowel movements.

Remember, your body must adjust gradually to these changes, so don’t rush. Moderation and consistency, with attention to your body’s reactions, will be key. If you have persistent symptoms, continually reassess your current diet and seek further guidance.
