Hello Muskan

I can understand your concern regarding irregular periods and desire to plan for a baby. Your case of PCOD with high prolactin and irregular cycles despite allopathic treatment indicates Kapha–Vata imbalance, Rasa–Artava dhatu kshaya, and hormonal dysregulation. The approach will focus on regulating menstrual cycles, reducing prolactin naturally, improving ovarian function, and preparing the body for conception.

🔎 Recommended Investigations 1. Repeat Hormonal profile – LH, FSH, Prolactin, AMH, Testosterone. 2. Thyroid profile (TSH, Free T3, T4). 3. Pelvic USG – to check ovarian cysts and endometrial lining. 4. Fasting blood sugar & insulin levels – PCOD often involves insulin resistance.

💊 Internal Ayurvedic Remedies Cycle Regulation & PCOD Management

1. Ashokarishta – 20 ml with equal water after lunch & dinner (regulates cycles). 2. Kanchanar guggulu – 2 tablets twice daily after meals (reduces cysts & balances hormones). 3. Shatavari churna – 1 tsp with warm milk at night (supports female hormones). High Prolactin Support

1. Brahmi + Shatavari milk – 1 tsp each in warm milk daily morning or night (reduces stress, regulates prolactin). 2. Guduchi ghan vati – 2 tablets twice daily (detox, immunity, hormone balance).

🍀 External Therapies

1. Abhyanga (oil massage) with warm sesame oil – once a week (reduces Vata, stress, improves ovarian function). 2. Basti therapy (if indicated) – medicated enema to balance Vata & support reproductive health. 🥗 Diet & Lifestyle ✅ Include: - Warm, light, freshly cooked meals. - Whole grains, legumes, vegetables, leafy greens. - Flax seeds, sesame seeds – hormone balancing. - Fruits: papaya, pomegranate, apple (avoid banana & high-sugar fruits in excess). ❌ Avoid: - Excess sweets, fried foods, junk food. - Cold/refrigerated foods, soft drinks. - Late-night meals or skipped meals. 🧘🏻‍♀️ Yoga & Pranayama 1. Yoga: Bhujangasana, Setu Bandhasana, Malasana, Surya Namaskar (slow pace) – supports reproductive organs. 2. Pranayama: Anulom Vilom & Bhramari – 10 min morning & evening (reduces stress, balances hormones). 3. Meditation / stress management – stress worsens prolactin and PCOD.

📌 Follow up

With consistent herbs, diet, and yoga, cycles may normalize in 2–3 months.

Ovulation & conception chances improve once cycles are regular.

If prolactin remains high after 3 months, combine with lifestyle & consult for natural lactation/prolactin-lowering support.

✨ With Ayurvedic management, hormone regulation, and lifestyle adjustments, your body can prepare naturally for conception.

With kind regards, Dr. Sumi

HELLO MUSKAN,

PCOD -In pcod, your ovaries become slightly larger then normal and develop many small fluid filled sacs (cysts) -This happens because the body makes more of the male type hormones (androgens) then required -As a result, your eggs don’t mature properly and ovulation (release of egg) become irregular

HIGH PROLACTIN -prolactin is a hormone made in brain. Normally it helps women produce milk after delivery -If prolactin is high inwoven before pregnancy, it disturbs ovulation, delayed or misses periods, and reduce chances of conception -stress, thyroid problem or pituitary imbalance can also raise prolactin

TOGETHER -PCOD + high prolactin makes your cycles irregular , and prevents egg release which is why you’re struggling with planning a pregnancy

TREATMENT GOALS -Regularize periods-> so your body naturally prepares for conception -reduce cysts in ovaries -correct hormonal imbalance -support egg quality and ovulation -strengthen uterus -balance mind and stress

INTERNAL MEDICATIONS

1) FOR DISOOLVING CYST AND KAPHA

-KANCHANAR GUGUGLU= 2 tabs twice daily after meals =breaks down cysts, reduces excess kapha, clears blocked channels

-VARUNADI KASHAYA= 20 ml with equal warm water twice daily =improves metabolism, reduces ovarian sweeling

2) FOR CYCLE REGULATION AND OVULATION

-RAJAPRAVARTINI VATI= 1 tab twice daily when periods are delayed not regular basis =brings regular flow by stimulating uterus

-PUSHPADHANVA RASA= 1 tab twice daily =improves ovulation and fertility strength

3) FOR HIGH PROACTIN AND HORMONAL BALANCE

-SHATAVARI + ASHWAGANDHA CHURNA= 1 tsp each with warm milk morning and night =reduces stress, lowers prolactin indirectly, strengthen female reproductive system

4) FOR FERTILITY AND UTERINE NOURISHMENT -PHALA GHRITA= 1 tsp with warm milk in morning =classical to improve ovum quality and prepare uterus for conception

DURATION= 3 months treatment is required to see consistent changes in cycle and ovulation it can extend upto 6 months

DIET PLAN

FOODS TO INCLUDE

1) WHOLE GRAINS -millets= foxtail, barnyard, kodo, little millet- regulate insulin and reduce fat -quinoa, amaranth, red/brown rice -rolled oats(not instant)

3) FRUITS(LOW GLYCEMIC) -amla=fresh or churna -pomegrante -apples, pears, papaya, berries

4) PROTEINS -Plant based= Moong dal, massor dal, horse gram, sprouted lentils -Animal based (if non veg)= boiled eggs, grilled fish(2 times/week)

5) HEALTHY FATS -cold pressed sesame oil -ghee=1 tsp/day -flax seed oil -seeds= flax, chia, pumpkin seeds- support estrogen balance

6) HERBS AND SPICES -turmeric, cinnamon, fenugreek, cumin, coriander, ajwian, -black pepper+ ginger

FOODS TO AVOID -cold and raw foods like smoothies, raws salads - sugar and white bread=causes weight gain and acne -fried or packaged foods= increases toxins -milk,panner,cheese= can make cysts worse -stress and late night= disrupts hormones

LIFESTYLE CHANGES FOR DEEP HEALING

1) DAILY RHYTHM -wake up before 7 am= sets hormonal rhythm -hydration=warm water with lemon+pinch of turmeric or methi seeds water(soaked overnight) -meal timing= eat meals at regular intervals; no skipping -sleep= sleep by 10-10:30 pm to optimise melatonin and cortisol balance -avoid excessive screen time, especially before sleep

Understanding your situation, the irregular periods, PCOD, and elevated prolactin levels are common issues that need a holistic approach from an Ayurvedic perspective. In Ayurveda, PCOD can be associated with kapha dosha imbalance and improper function of “arthava dhatu” or reproductive tissues. Here’s how you can approach it:

Firstly, dietary adjustments are crucial. Aim to consume more foods that assist in balancing kapha, such as lightly cooked vegetables that are easy to digest, whole grains like quinoa and barley, and warming spices such as ginger, cinnamon, and black pepper. Reduce intake of dairy products, sugar, processed foods, and fried foods, as they can exacerbate kapha imbalance.

Incorporating regular physical activity like yoga or brisk walking can significantly help in managing weight and improving hormonal balance. Try to maintain a routine of at least 30 minutes of activity daily. Practices such as Surya Namaskar (Sun Salutations), which are stimulating, can help balance kapha and improve your metabolism.

Herbal remedies may also be beneficial. Shatavari (Asparagus racemosus) is renowned for its effects on female health, and Ashwagandha (Withania somnifera) might support the reduction of elevated prolactin levels by managing stress. However, it’s essential to consult a qualified Ayurvedic practitioner for proper dosage and administration.

Regular abhyanga (self-massage) with warming oils like sesame oil can aid in improving circulation and removing toxins. Simply warm the oil and apply to your body before a bath or shower, allowing it to remain on the skin for about 15 minutes.

Ensure that your emotions and mental health are addressed too, as stress can exacerbate hormonal imbalance. Practice relaxation techniques such as meditation or Pranayama to bring calmness and balance to the mind.

Lastly, consider the timing of seeking further medical intervention. Even though Ayurveda offers powerful solutions, it complements rather than replaces allopathic recommendations. Monitor your symptoms and remain in regular touch with your healthcare provider, especially as you plan for pregnancy. Always have your medical test results periodically reviewed by a professional to track improvements in hormone levels. Safety first!

For managing PCOD and high prolactin levels within the Siddha-Ayurvedic framework, it’s crucial to balance your doshas, particularly kapha and vata, which are often involved in such conditions. PCOD is linked to improper metabolism and hormonal imbalance, requiring a holistic approach to restore balance.

First, focus on your diet. Reduce kapha-aggravating foods like dairy, sugar, and processed foods, while emphasizing fresh vegetables, whole grains, and legumes. Spices like turmeric, cinnamon, and cumin can boost your agni, or digestive fire, helping to maintain hormonal balance. Incorporate these into your meals daily.

Ashwagandha and Shatavari are effective herbs traditionally used for balancing hormones and enhancing fertility. You may take Ashwagandha powder about 2-3 grams with warm milk in the morning, and Shatavari churna (powder) the same way in the evening. These help reduce stress and normalize prolactin levels.

Regular physical activity, like yoga or brisk walking, is valuable. Practices such as pranayama can calm the mind and balance vata dosha. Aim for at least 30 minutes of exercise daily.

Lastly, manage stress through meditation or mindfulness, as stress can exacerbate hormonal imbalances. Regular sleep patterns and adequate hydration are also important.

However, do consult with a healthcare provider to monitor your condition and ensure that these recommendations align with any ongoing treatments. PCOD and elevated prolactin require professional guidance to address effectively, especially when planning for a baby.
