HELLO PAVANI,
-You have H.pylori infection- a bacteria that damages the stomach lining and alters acid levels -Normally, the stomach needs strong but balanced acid to digest proteins and absorb nutrients -With H. pylori , the acid gets disturbed-> either too high or too low. In your case, it’s low stomach acid (hypochorhydra)
Because of this -Protiens and fats are not digested properly -> bloating, heaviness, discomfort -Nutrients (iron, B12, etc) are not absorbed-> weakness, weight loss, other health issues -Gut flora (microbes) get disturb -> bloating, gas
In Ayurveda, this is explained as -Mandagni (weak digestion) -Amla pitta (acid disturbance) -Krimi (microbial overgrowth)
So the core problem= weak digestion + bacteria +damaged stomach lining
TREATMENT GOALS -Eradicate bacteria -restore digestive fie -heal stomach and intestines -improve absorption and nourishment -prevent recurrence
PHASE WISE TREATMENT PLAN
PHASE 1= CLEANSING AND KRIMI NASHANA (0-6 weeks) Goal= reduce bacterial load, remove toxins, prepare stomach for healing
INTERNALLY
1) VIDANGA CHURNA= 2 gm with honey, empty stomach =anti bacterial, deworming
2) NEEM TABLET= 500mg once daily in morinng =cleanses infection, balances pitta-kapha
3) TRIPHALA CHURNA= 1 tsp with warm water at bedtime =detox, bowel cleansing, supports flora
EXTERNALLY
-Oil massage with sesame oil=reduces stress, balances vata -Ushnodaka (warm water sipping) throughout the day to clear toxins
HOME REMEDIES -Chew 4-5 tulsi leaves daily -Garlic clove raw in morning if tolerated -Jeera + ajwain + saunf tea after meals
PHSE 2= HEALING AND AGNI DEEPANA (6-12 weeks) Goal= heal stomach lining, slowly increase digestive strength
INTERNALLY
1) YASHTIMADHU CHURNA= 1 gm with warm milk twice daily in morning and night =heals ulcers, mucosal protection
2) SHATAVARI CHURNA= 3 gm with warm milk in morning =cooling, nourishing
3) HINGWASTAKA CHURNA= 1/2 tsp with warm water before meals =improves digestion, reduces bloating
LICORICE + SHATAVRI-> protect stomach from acid and help absorption
HINGWASTAKA-> stimulates agni without harming mucosa
HOME REMEDIES -Amla juice= 10-15 ml daily= vitamin c, heals lining
-Buttermilk with roasted jeera + rock salt after meals improves digestion
PHASE 3= RASYANA AND STRENGTHENING (3-6 MONTHS) Goal= nourishment, weight gain, prevention of recurrence
INTERNALLY
1) CHYAWANPRASH= 1 tsp daily =rasayana, immunity, tissue nourishment
2) ASHWAGANDHA LEHYA= 1 tsp at night with warm milk =strength, weight gain
3) AMALAKI RASAYANA= 1 tsp daily =antioxidant, rebuilds gut lining
HOME REMEIDES -Soaked almonds 5-6 daily -warm milk with ghee at night -papaya, pomegranate, apple= gentle fruits for digestion
DIET -warm, freshly cooked meals- khichdi, moong dal soup, rice gruel -cooked vegetables bottle gourd, pumpkin, ridge gourd, carrots -Light proteins= moong dal, mung sprouts (lightly cooked), panne (if tolerated) -cow’s ghee small amounts -Fruits= pomegranate, apple (stewed), papaya, amla
AVOID -very spicy, sour, fermented food -pickle, curd at night -coffee, strong tea, alcohol, smoking -raw salads, heavy oily fried food -refined flour, bakery products
LIFESTYLE CHANGES -Eat at regular timings, don’t skip meals -eat calmly, chew properly -avoid lying down immediately after meals -sleep early 10 pm, wake up early -manage stress- avoid overthinking and late night screen use
YOGA ASANAS= for digestio , Vata-pitta balance -vajrasana sit 5-10 min after meals -pawanmuktasana - gas release - bhujangasana- improves agni, strengthens stomach -ardha matsyendrasana-stimulates digestion
PRANAYAM -Nadi sodhana= balances doshas -Bhramari= calms nerves, reduces stress
-H. pylori with low stomach acid is reversible if treated systematically. -Ayurveda treats by removing bacteria, restoring agni, healing lining, and strengthening body. -This needs phase wise , patient approach -Along with medicines, discipline in diet, lifestyle, yoga and stress management is equally important

Hello Pavani
Thank you for explaining your condition in detail. Your case of H. pylori infection with low stomach acid, bloating after food, poor protein & fat digestion, and difficulty in gaining weight indicates Agni Mandya (weak digestion), Ajeerna (indigestion), Grahani dosha (intestinal weakness), and Rasa dhatu kshaya (improper nourishment of tissues). The approach will focus on Agnideepana (digestive fire stimulation), Ama pachana (removal of toxins), Grahani balya (strengthening intestines), Rasayana (tissue nourishment), and gradual weight gain.
🔎 Recommended Investigations
1. H. pylori stool antigen / Urea breath test – to confirm active infection. 2. Liver function test – to check fat metabolism. 3. Serum Vitamin B12 & Iron studies – H. pylori often causes deficiency. 4. Vitamin D3 & Calcium profile – to assess absorption. 5. Complete Blood Count (CBC) – for overall nutrition status.
💊 Internal Medicine
First 15 days – Agni Deepana & Ama Pachana
1. Hingvashtaka churna – 1 tsp with warm water before meals (for bloating & gas). 2. Kutajarishta – 15 ml with equal water after lunch & dinner (improves gut strength). 3. Yashtimadhu churna (Licorice) – 1 tsp with lukewarm water in morning (soothes gastric mucosa, balances acid).

In Ayurveda, the digestive fire is called Agni. The symptoms you’ve described—low stomach acid, bloating, poor digestion of fats and proteins, and difficulty gaining weight—are often associated with a weak or imbalanced Agni. The herbs you mentioned—fennel (Saunf), carom seeds (Ajwain), cumin (Jeera), and licorice (Yashtimadhu) are all known to support digestion in Ayurveda. However, their effectiveness can vary depending on your specific body constitution (Prakriti) and the nature of the imbalance (Vikriti).
Here are some general Ayurvedic principles that might be helpful 1. Strengthening Agni (Digestive Fire): Sip Warm Water: Drinking warm or hot water throughout the day can help stimulate digestion.
Ginger: Chewing a small piece of fresh ginger with a pinch of rock salt and a few drops of lemon juice before meals is a traditional remedy to kindle Agni. Spices: Incorporate digestive spices like black pepper (Maricha), long pepper (Pippali), and ginger (Shunthi) into your cooking. This trio is known as Trikatu and is often used to improve digestion and absorption. Avoid Cold Foods and Drinks: Cold water, ice cream, and cold beverages can dampen Agni. Try to consume foods and drinks at room temperature or warmer. 2. Addressing the Root Cause: Light, Easy-to-Digest Foods: Focus on eating light, warm, and well-cooked foods. Soups, stews, and steamed vegetables are generally easier to digest than raw salads or heavy, fried foods. Mindful Eating: Eat in a relaxed environment, chew your food thoroughly, and avoid distractions like watching TV or using your phone. This can aid in better digestion. Portion Control: Eat until you are about 75% full. Overeating can strain your digestive system. Timing: Try to eat your largest meal at midday when your digestive fire is strongest. 3. Specific Food Recommendations for Weight Gain (with Weak Agni): Grains: Basmati rice, quinoa, and oats are generally easy to digest. Proteins: Cooked lentils, mung beans (Moong Dal), and chickpeas are easier to digest than heavier proteins like red meat. A small amount of paneer or fresh yogurt might also be suitable. Fats: Ghee (clarified butter) is highly regarded in Ayurveda for its digestive and nourishing properties. It can help improve absorption of nutrients. You can also use a small amount of sesame oil or coconut oil. Herbal Ghee:
4. Lifestyle Recommendations: Stress Management: Stress can severely impact digestion. Incorporate stress-reducing activities like meditation, yoga, or deep breathing exercises into your routine. Yoga Poses: Certain yoga postures like Pawanmuktasana (wind-relieving pose), Vajrasana (thunderbolt pose), and gentle twists can aid digestion. Routine: A consistent daily routine (Dinacharya) for waking, eating, and sleeping can help regulate your digestive system. Important Note on Liquorice: While liquorice (Yashtimadhu) is soothing and can help with gastric issues, it’s generally considered to be cooling and can, in some cases, further dampen Agni if the primary issue is a cold, sluggish digestion.
