Dear Doctor, My name is Mohammed Rashid, and I am 39 years old. I have been experiencing heel pain for the past five months due to a sports-related injury, possibly caused by running or a sudden movement. Initially, I underwent allopathic treatment, which provided temporary relief while I was taking painkillers; however, the pain returned once the medication was stopped. For the past one and a half months, I have been consulting an Ayurvedic physician and taking the following medications as prescribed: • Burcalvin capsules • Punarnavadi Kashayam tablets • Trayodashanga Guggulu • Valiya Rasnadi Kashayam I take these medicines twice daily, before and after food, as advised. I have noticed gradual improvement, with reduced pain and swelling. I would like to know whether these medications are appropriate for my condition, or if you would recommend any alternative or additional treatment. Kindly advise.

How would you describe the severity of your heel pain?:

- Moderate, affects daily activities

Are there any specific activities that trigger or worsen your heel pain?:

- Walking for long periods

Have you made any changes to your lifestyle or physical activity since the injury?:

- Yes, reduced activity significantly

Your medication appears consistent with pain and swelling in joint diseases including heel pain. If you had been subjected to any ligament or other soft tissue injuries there are medicines for that too. A bandage with murivenna taila and karuth vatt tablet, or gandha taila 10 drops in warm water will be greatly beneficial in such conditions.Discuss the possibility of that with your doctor if the symptoms persist.

Namaste Mohammed Rashid, Your symptoms — heel pain after a sports injury with recurrence after stopping painkillers — indicate ligament/tendon strain with vata involvement, commonly seen in conditions like plantar fasciitis. The focus should be on reducing inflammation, healing the affected tissue, and preventing strain. Your current medicines are appropriate for this condition, especially for reducing inflammation and supporting joint and nerve health. Since you are already noticing improvement, it is a positive sign and the treatment can be continued with monitoring. Avoid prolonged standing and excessive strain on the heel. Use soft, cushioned footwear and avoid walking barefoot on hard surfaces. Gentle stretching of the foot and calf muscles can help. Applying mild heat after oil massage can reduce stiffness. Include warm, freshly cooked food with a little ghee and avoid excessive dry or cold foods. Ayurvedic medicines with dose and timing (if needed for additional support): Yogaraja Guggulu – 1 tablet, twice daily after food Dashmoolarishta – 15 ml with equal water, twice daily after food External application: Apply Mahanarayana Taila or Sahacharadi Taila over the heel, followed by gentle massage and mild fomentation (heat) These are traditionally used to reduce pain, improve circulation, and support healing of soft tissues when combined with proper care. Since you are already improving, continue the current treatment, and additional medicines can be considered only if progress plateaus. With consistent care, further improvement can be expected over the next few weeks. Consult me for more advice and suggestions on the above medicines.

Dear Mohammed Rashid, I’m sorry to hear about your ongoing heel pain for the past few months. Pain that affects daily movement, especially after a sports injury, can be quite frustrating—but it’s good that you are already seeing some improvement with treatment. From your description, this condition is commonly correlated with Vata-dominant disorders in Ayurveda, often similar to Snayugata Vata / Padashoola, and in modern terms can resemble Plantar Fasciitis or ligament strain. What I Would Suggest ✔ Continue Current Medicines Since you are improving, do not abruptly change medicines. Healing in such conditions takes time (often 2–3 months). ✔ Add Local Treatment External application can significantly speed recovery 1) Mahanarayana Taila / Sahacharadi Taila Method: Lukewarm oil massage on heel (10–15 mins) Follow with hot fomentation (warm water or salt potli) It Helps to reduce stiffness ,Improve circulation,Faster ligament healing You are already on the right path, and your improvement is a positive sign. However, in conditions like this, proper personalization of medicines, duration, and therapies is very important to avoid recurrence. If you would like, I can guide you with a completely personalized treatment plan, including: -Exact medicine combinations suited to your body type -Diet plan for faster healing -Step-by-step external therapy routine You can connect for a detailed consultation whenever you feel comfortable.
