••Pranam. As an Ayurvedic practitioner, I look at your hair through the lens of the Doshas (energetic vital forces) and Dhatus (tissues)—specifically Asthi Dhatu (bone tissue), of which hair is a byproduct (Upadhatu). 1. Choosing the Right Ayurvedic Oils (Snehana) Because your hair goes flat easily, heavy oils like unrefined coconut or castor oil will compress it too much. We need penetrating, nutrient-dense, yet light oils. ••Brahmi-Bhringraj Tailam (The Royal Herbs): Bhringraj is known in Ayurveda as Keshraj (King of Hair). It awakens dormant hair follicles and promotes growth. Brahmi soothes the nervous system, reducing stress-induced hair shedding. ••Almond Oil (Badam Tailam) as a Base: Sweet almond oil is incredibly rich in Vitamin E and acts as a Keshya (hair tonic) that smooths down the open cuticles of high porosity hair without leaving it greasy. ••How to apply: Warm the oil slightly (never boil it). Using your fingertips, gently massage it into your scalp using Marmachikitsa—light, circular pressure on the crown of your head to stimulate blood flow. Leave it on for 30 to 45 minutes before washing. Do not leave it overnight, as this can attract dust and overload Kapha on the scalp. 2. Herbal Hair Washes & Packs (Shirolepa) Instead of harsh chemical shampoos that strip the hair and lift the cuticles further, use binding, conditioning herbs. ••The Gentle Cleanser: Wash your hair with a lukewarm infusion of Arishta (Reetha) and Shikakai. Shikakai has a naturally low pH, which helps gently close and smooth down high-porosity hair cuticles. ••The Nourishing Mask (Once a week): Mix Amalki (Amla) powder with yogurt or aloe vera gel. Amla is packed with Vitamin C and antioxidants that strengthen the hair shaft, while the mild acidity of yogurt or aloe helps seal the cuticle layers, preventing the hair from going flat. The Golden Rules for Your Hair Type ••Never Use Hot Water: Hot water opens the cuticles even further. Always use lukewarm water for washing and a cool water rinse at the very end to lock in moisture. ••Internal Nourishment (Aahara): Hair reflects your internal nutrition. Include black sesame seeds, almonds, and amla juice in your daily diet to strengthen Asthi Dhatu from within. ••Comb with Care: Use a wide-toothed neem wood comb. Neem is naturally anti-bacterial and prevents scalp irritation, while the wide teeth won’t snap vulnerable, water-logged high-porosity hair.

Based on your description, your hair may have medium porosity (normal porosity). The float test is not very reliable, so signs like how quickly hair gets wet, dries, and behaves are usually more useful. Take Bhringarajasava 15 ml with equal water after meals, twice daily. Bhringraj Churna 3 g with warm water or honey at bedtime. Amla Churna 3 g once daily after food. Hair oils Bhringraj Taila – apply 3–4 times weekly. Neelibhringadi Taila – apply at night and wash next morning. Ksheerabala Taila if scalp dryness is present. Diet Include amla, sesame seeds, curry leaves, milk, ghee, mung dal, and protein-rich foods. Ensure adequate iron, vitamin D, vitamin B12, and protein intake, as deficiencies commonly contribute to hair fall and slow growth.
Thank you very much
Hello Thank you for sharing your concern Based on what you have described it looks like Normal to low porosity hair The commonly used test as you mentioned float test is not a reliable test It may differ due to -Residual oil -Thickness of hair -Trapped air -Product build up Your hairs are -Healthy -Shiny -Strong Water initially stays on surface it is more suggestive of low to normal porosity hair 🔹Ayurvedic hair growth plan You can use -Bhringaraj taila -Good for promoting hair and reduces hair fall -Neelibhringadi taila - Helps in nourishing the roots 🔹Correct way to use -Sightly luke warm the oil -Apply on the scalp -Massage on the scalp for 10-15 mins -Leave for 1-2 hours -Apply 2-3 times a week For low porosity, its preferable to use warm oil as compared to cold oil 🔹for dandruff Make a paste of neem powder with water and apply on scalp. Once a week 🔹Internal Medication Take more of Amla Black sesame Curry leaves Soaked nuts With proper hair and scalp care along with internal nutrition you will definately feel change in your hair Wishing you a good health😊 Warm Regards Dr Snehal Vidhate
