For managing myositis and reducing dependence on steroids, Ayurveda offers a gentle yet effective approach focused on balancing immunity and reducing inflammation. Since myositis involves inflammation of the muscles, we’ll prioritize a diet and lifestyle that pacifies Pitta dosha (associated with inflammation) and enhances Ojas (immunity and vitality). A nourishing, anti-inflammatory diet is key: incorporate warm, easily digestible foods like well-cooked rice, moong dal (split yellow lentils), and steamed vegetables such as squash, carrots, and leafy greens. Avoid nightshade vegetables (potatoes, tomatoes, eggplant), as these can increase inflammation in some people. Include natural anti-inflammatory spices like turmeric, ginger, and cumin in your meals, as they aid digestion and reduce inflammation.

Cow’s ghee, in small quantities, is highly beneficial as it can soothe inflammation and strengthen tissues. Herbal support such as Ashwagandha, Amalaki (Indian gooseberry), and Guduchi can aid in reducing dependency on steroids by supporting muscle health and immunity. However, these should be taken under an Ayurvedic practitioner’s guidance, especially when adjusting your steroid regimen. Regular, gentle oil massage (Abhyanga) with warm sesame or Mahanarayan oil can help ease muscle stiffness and pain. Avoid excessive exertion and engage in mild, restorative practices like yoga and breathing exercises (pranayama) to boost circulation and reduce stress.

Detoxifying the body gradually, along with dietary modifications, will help manage symptoms and support long-term wellness. Before making any changes to your steroid medication, consult your healthcare provider to ensure a safe transition while following Ayurvedic practices to build resilience and restore balance naturally.

Hello Mohammad, it is ideal for you to cross check with your consultant regarding the same. Simultaneously you can consult an Ayurvedic expert too but physical examination and detailed study of your case papers is needed to suggest anything. Autoimmune diseases require dietary & lifestyle intervention along with medication according to Ayurveda.

Oh, dealing with myositis and the hefty burden of steroids, I get it, is no walk in the park. First things first, any decision about slowing or stopping steroids needs a doctor’s green light. It’s risky business if done wrong.

Okay, with that on the table, let’s dive into the Ayurveda side of things! Myositis usually ties back to an imbalance in Vata and Pitta doshas, you know? Restoring balance will take a bit of tweaking with diet and lifestyle to soothe those doshas.

Alright, food time. Think warm, moist foods to calm Vata, and cooling stuff to mellow out Pitta. So, dump the fiery spices and chilly salads for creamy, stewed, or soupy meals. Friends like oats and rice, cooked sweet potatoes, and squash are invited. Try throwing in some turmeric, ginger, or cumin to ignite the ‘agni’— your digestive fire. Turmeric especially, cuz it’s anti-inflammatory, should pop up often.

Minimize those acid-forming foods - meats, fried greedies, chilled drinks or vast dairy. Dairy’s kinda a frenemy, gotta see how ur body reacts. Goat milk, if tolerated, might be easier on the system.

Alright, drinks! Stick mostly with warm water and herbal teas. Caffeine isn’t your BFF here. Maybe some turmeric tea to heal from the inside.

Now the lifestyle bit… Sleep! A regular sleep pattern can really help dial down the immune system. Try to find some relaxation time every day. Yoga and meditation. Gentle asanas are fab for calming the mind and body, but no pushing it too hard. Slow and good.

Stress is a big ol’ trigger too. So, if you’re into journaling or deep breathing, squeeze those into your daily mix. They’re more powerful than they seem.

Ayurvedic massages can be a major thumbs-up too. Sneha Abhyanga with warm sesame oil can nourish tissues and, uh, it’s super soothing. Try weekly if you can manage it.

This is a journey, not an overnight fix. Balance won’t snap into place immediately. But, baby steps can really add up. Remember, check with your doc before making big changes, especially with medicine. Stay tuned to how your body’s responding. Keep that conversation going, okay?
