Psoriasis on the feet can be so challenging, really makes everyday stuff like walking a true pain. First, let’s look at the root of it. In Ayurveda, this usually involves an imbalance in Vata and sometimes Pitta doshas. When your Vata gets outta whack, dryness and cracking intensify. So, here’s what you can start doing:
First thing, hydration, hydration, hydration. Keep your feet moisturized. You can make a quick paste with sesame oil and a tiny pinch of turmeric. Sesame oil helps balance Vata, and turmeric has anti-inflammatory properties, which might calm your irritated skin. Just apply it gently to the affected areas twice a day, best in the morning and before bed.
Your diet can be supportive too. Warm foods are your best friend here. Think about incorporating ghee in your meals to lubricate tissues internally. Avoiding heavily spiced, fried, and overly processed foods is essential, as they can aggravate Pitta. Instead, opt for simple, home-cooked meals.
Make sure you get regular sleep - sounds simple but lack of sleep messes with your body’s healing ability! Go to bed early, around 10 PM if you can.
Since stress can flare up psoriasis, maybe try meditation or some deep breathing exercises. Just take few minutes every day, sitting somewhere quiet, focusing on your breath.
Lastly, do take a look at your footwear. Make sure you’re not wearing anything too tight, as this could lead to more irritation. Soft and natural fabric socks, with comfortable shoes, can sometimes make a big difference.
If your condition seems to be worsening or if it’s really severe, don’t wait to consult a healthcare professional alongside these Ayurvedic tips. Sometimes, a blend of conventional and Ayurvedic treatment offers the best results.
