Hello Tabish, Skin tags are usually harmless, but I understand your concern. In Ayurveda, skin tags are often linked to an imbalance in the Kapha dosha, which can result in excess growth of tissue. They can be a result of hormonal changes, genetics, or friction in areas like the neck and underarms. To treat this naturally, herbs like neem, turmeric, and garlic are often used to reduce inflammation and promote skin health. However, it’s important to understand your skin condition better. Have you had any recent medical checkups or hormonal tests? Is there any change in your diet, stress levels, or weight? Also, are the skin tags growing or causing discomfort?

Dear Tabish,

I understand your concern regarding the skin tags you’ve had since your late teens, particularly in areas like your underarms and neck. Let’s delve into what skin tags are, why they occur, and the options available for their management. Skin tags, medically known as acrochordons, are small, benign (non-cancerous) growths that commonly appear in areas where the skin folds, such as the neck, underarms, eyelids, groin, and under the breasts. They are typically flesh-colored or slightly darker and can vary in size from a few millimeters to a centimeter or more. While the exact cause of skin tags isn’t entirely understood, several factors are associated with their development: • Friction: Skin tags often develop in areas where skin rubs against skin or clothing, such as the neck and underarms.
• Genetics: A family history of skin tags can increase your likelihood of developing them. • Age: They are more common in middle-aged and older aged group

Skin tags are harmless and typically don’t require treatment unless they cause discomfort or cosmetic concerns. If you wish to remove them, consider the following options: Cryotherapy Cauterization Ligation: Excision

Alright, skin tags, they’re pretty common and, usually, not harmful, but of course, I get why they can be concerning. Let’s dive right in, using some Ayurvedic wisdom to tackle them.

So, skin tags might be tied to Kapha imbalances. It sometimes happens when there’s excess moisture or buildup in the body. Addressing this could help. First, consider your diet - try reducing things that can increase Kapha. That’s, you know, heavy, oily, and cold foods, like dairy or fried stuff. Opt for more warm, light foods instead, like leafy greens and spices such as ginger and turmeric. Great for balancing!

Hydration is key, but don’t overdo it — warm water with a splash of lemon in the morning can actually stimulate your metabolism and digestive fire, agni. Continue this routine daily. Might sound simple, but it could make a difference over time.

Okay, now for something more direct for the skin tags! You might try a paste of sandalwood and turmeric. Mix equal parts with a little water and apply it directly to the skin tag every day, leaving it on for an hour or so before washing off. Make sure you’re not allergic to any of these ingredients, though.

Lifestyle changes could also be needed, really. Encourage a regular exercise routine that helps balance Kapha, like jogging, cycling, or even some yoga poses. Not only does it help with circulation, but also with stress, which can be a big contributor.

If they become painful or change in appearance, definitely see a dermatologist. It might be nothing, but worth being safe. Ayurveda is great, but it’s important to complement it with conventional medicine when needed.

Lastly, give these approaches some time and consistency. Ayurvedic treatments usually work slowly but steadily. Patience might be required!ğunu.

Hopefully, these steps make sense and you find some relief!

Thanks so much for clarifying this! I had no idea mixing meds could be risky. I'll stick to my doctor's meds and look into Ayurveda separately.
