Hello Jaita, I understand your concern about pigmentation, dark spots, and other skin issues. Since you have thyroid and are taking medications for it, could you share more details about your thyroid condition, such as your TSH, T3, and T4 levels? Have you had any recent blood tests or skin assessments? In Ayurveda, pigmentation and skin issues can often be linked to imbalances in the Pitta dosha, which affects the skin and hair. For pigmentation and dark spots, herbs like turmeric, neem, and manjistha can help purify the blood and promote clear skin. To address the bumps, a gentle skincare routine with herbal oils like coconut oil or rosehip oil might be beneficial. It’s also important to support your hair health with herbs like bhringraj, amla, and ashwagandha. Have you noticed any changes in your skin or hair since starting thyroid medication?

Addressing pigmentation issues, especially around the mouth, lips, and cheeks, demands a nuanced approach. According to Ayurveda, pigmentation can often be attributed to an imbalance in Pitta dosha, which is responsible for the skin’s natural complexion and health. It’s crucial to address the root cause by calming the Pitta imbalance and ensuring your skincare routine aligns with Ayurvedic principles, targeting both pigmentation and overall skin clarity.

Start your day by drinking warm water with half a tsp of lemon juice, which helps detoxify and balance Pitta dosha, supporting clearer skin over time. For stubborn dark spots and bumps under your skin, applying a paste of sandalwood powder mixed with rosewater can be beneficial. This natural remedy is cooling and soothing, reducing pigmentation and inflammation with regular use.

For lip pigmentation, consider using a mix of turmeric and ghee. Apply a tiny amount before bed to restore the lips’ natural color and moisture, benefiting from both turmeric’s brightening properties and ghee’s nourishment.

Your dietary habits play a pivotal role too. Incorporating Pitta-pacifying foods, such as ripe fruits, green leafy vegetables, and plenty of water, supports not only your skin health but also addresses thyroid issues. Avoid hot, spicy, and oily foods that aggravate Pitta and can exacerbate pigmentation.

Regarding those under-the-skin bumps, regular gentle exfoliation with natural ingredients like chickpea flour can clear clogged pores. Be mindful and gentle, as harsh treatments could irritate the skin more.

In term’s of hair fall, linked to your thyroid condition, focus on nourishing the scalp with oils containing hibiscus, amla, and bhringraj. These herbs are renowned in Ayurveda for promoting hair health and addressing hair fall.

A practice of regular yoga and pranayama can also help manage stress and hormonal balance, both contributing factors to skin and hair health. Balancing your lifestyle factors alongside Ayurvedic treatments can gradually lead to improvement in your symptoms without clashing with thyroid medication, but consistency is key. These suggestions might take time, but they are about building long-term wellness.
