Premature greying and hair thinning can be frustrating, especially if you’ve noticed these changes recently. Ayurveda believes that such changes often tie back to imbalances in your doshas—specifically, an excess of Pitta, which when flares-up, affects not just hair but also metabolism. With the weight gain and slow metabolism, this suggests sluggish agni, or your digestive fire.

Firstly, it’s important to address your metabolism, because it’s the core of overall balance. Introduce ginger tea into your daily routine. Fresh ginger slices steeped in hot water with a dash of honey can help stimulate agni. Drink a cup 20 minutes before meals, it wakes up your digestive system.

The food you eat play a significant role too—focus on a diet that is Pitta-pacifying, which means avoiding overly spicy, salty, or sour foods. Opt instead for more cooling, soothing foods. Include ghee, it’s highly nourishing and great for both the hair and enhances digestion. Leafy greens, sweet fruits like pears and grapes, and bitter vegetables such as spinach can be quite beneficial too.

For your hair, consider a nourishing oil massage twice a week using Bhringraj or Amla oil. Gently warm it before application because it increases absorption. These herbs are reputed in Ayurveda for promoting hair health and reviving natural color. Massage it into the scalp for at least 15 minutes, possibly before shampoo.

Since stress can aggravate Pitta, establishing a consistent yoga or meditation practice can help calm your mind, it’s a win for both psychological and physical balance. Try a simple pranayama, like alternate nostril breathing, daily.

Finally, don’t ignore Bhringraj rasayana taken as a supplement, it might aid in reversing the greying process internally. Consult an Ayurvedic practitioner to assess the right dosage as per your constitution. And remember, sudden changes in your body might also necessitate a visit to a healthcare provider to rule out underlying health conditions, if symptoms persist or worsen.
