Dealing with patches like this can indeed be puzzling especially when answers seem elusive. It sounds like what you’re describing could be tinea versicolor, a skin condition caused by overgrowth of yeast on the skin. Lets dig into what Ayurveda might tell us about such a condition.

In Ayurveda, skin issues like patches or discoloration can often be the sign of an imbalance in doshas, most commonly the Pitta dosha which is related to heat and metabolism in the body. This imbalance maybe exacerbated by certain lifestyle choices or environmental factors.

Firstly, examining your diet could be a helpful step. Favor cool, calming, and mildly astringent foods which can help pacify excess Pitta. Try including foods like cucumber, cilantro, and aloe vera juice in your diet. Cut down or stay away from excessive sour, salty and spicy foods as they are known to aggravate Pitta.

For external applications, a paste made from sandalwood and turmeric might be beneficial due to their cooling and anti-fungal properties. Mix sandalwood powder and turmeric with a little water and apply this paste gently to the affected areas. Leave it on for about 20 minutes before rinsing off with lukewarm water. Applying regularly, could help in managing the discoloration.

Maintaining a regular skin care routine focusing on cleanliness might also help. use a regular mild ayurvedic soap that does not dry out the skin and gently exfoliate your skin about once a week with a soft cloth or loofah.

Remember, addressing stressors in life is equally important as stress is known to flare up many skin conditions. Practicing yoga or pranayama daily might help in reducing stress levels and balancing your dosha.

However, as these home remedies and lifestyle adjustments take time, if there is any sever itching, pain or rapid changes its wise to seek immediate medical advice if needed. Ayurveda works well in consonance with conventional medicine, making sure you maintain an open dialogue with your healthcare provider.

Thanks so much for clarifying this! I had no idea mixing meds could be risky. I'll stick to my doctor's meds and look into Ayurveda separately.
