How to prevent hair loss due to white sticky substances on hair scalp - #22872

Siddharth kumar

I’m experiencing a scalp issue where a white, sticky substance consistently forms, making my scalp feel greasy and unhealthy. This buildup seems to clog my hair follicles, causing noticeable hair loss, thinning, dry and rough hair and a gradual reduction in my hairline. It also leads to itchiness and discomfort, and despite regular washing, the substance keeps returning. This condition is affecting the overall health and appearance of my hair, making it weaker, less dense, and more prone to falling out. I'm concerned it may be due to an underlying scalp disorder or excess oil production.

The white, sticky substance on your scalp you described might be related to an imbalance in your scalp’s natural oil production, which can be influenced by factors such as diet, stress, and imbalances in your doshas, particularly Pitta and Kapha. According to Ayurveda, it’s essential to address these root causes to restore balance and promote scalp health.

Firstly, let’s consider dietary modifications. Favor a diet that pacifies Pitta and Kapha. Include more cooling, astringent and bitter foods like leafy greens, cucumbers, and pomegranates, which can help reduce inflammation and oiliness. Limit spicy, oily, and fried foods that can exacerbate these imbalances.

Regular scalp detoxification is also vital. You might try a natural scalp cleansing pack made of triphala powder and neem. Mix equal parts with warm water to form a paste, apply it to your scalp, let it sit for 20-30 minutes, and then rinse thoroughly. This can help remove excess oil and impurities.

Abhyanga, or oil massage, should be done once a week using oils suitable for your doshas. A blend of coconut oil and neem oil can be soothing for your scalp, helping to clear dandruff and reduce itchiness. Warm the oil slightly before applying it. Massage your scalp gently with your fingertips to improve circulation, paying attention to the entire scalp rather than just concentrating on problem areas.

Make sure to manage stress, as it can impact hair health. Simple daily practices like Pranayama (breathing exercises) or Yoga can help balance mind and body.

Avoid frequent use of harsh shampoos or conditioners, as they can strip the natural oils. Consider using a natural herbal shampoo and avoid overwashing, which could exacerbate oil production.

If the condition persists or worsens, seeking professional medical advice is important. A dermatologist or trichologist can provide specific treatments for scalp disorders that may complement Ayurvedic practices.
