Scalp acne and itching can be quite a bother, and it seems like an allopathic approach didn’t quite do the trick for you. Let’s explore an Ayurvedic perspective. Often, scalp acne and itching is related to an imbalance in the Pitta dosha, which can lead to inflammation and heat in the body.

First, I’d recommend cooling your Pitta with your diet. Include more cooling foods like cucumbers, cilantro, and coconut water. Avoid spicy, oily, or sour foods that might worsen Pitta. Be sure to drink plenty of water throughout the day - hydration is crucial, and too often overlooked.

For direct application, try using neem oil or tea tree oil on your scalp. Neem has excellent antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties that can soothe the acne. Mix a few drops with a carrier oil like coconut oil, and apply it to the affected areas before washing your head. Leave it on for at least an hour, then gently rinse it out.

Washing your hair is also essential. Use a mild, herbal shampoo that is free from harsh chemicals. Shampoos containing neem or aloe vera are good option as they are calming to the scalp. Be gentle as you wash - scrubbing vigorously can irritate the scalp further.

Don’t forget some external practices such as sitting head massages, which can improve circulation and contribute to overall scalp health. Regular exercise also helps in balancing doshas, improving digestion improving skin quality over time.

Meditation, pranyama, and mindfulness techniques can also help. Stress can exacerbate skin woes, so these practices will help in calming the mind too.

If you continues have severe symptoms or do not see improvement, please do consider consulting an Ayurvedic practitioner first hand who can provide a detailed assessment based on your unique constitution (prakriti). If itching becomes very problem some or if there’s any signs of infection, seek immediate care to rule out any complications.

Thanks so much for clarifying this! I had no idea mixing meds could be risky. I'll stick to my doctor's meds and look into Ayurveda separately.
