can we apply multani mitti daily - #23374

Alexander

I am really confused about this whole multani mitti thing. So, I’ve been struggling with really oily skin this past few months like it’s driving me nuts! I read online that multani mitti can help absorb excess oil, so I thought, why not give it a try? I've been applying it a couple of times a week, and honestly, my skin feels so much better after each use. But here’s the thing — I’ve come across some posts saying, “can we apply multani mitti daily?” I mean, is it safe to do that? I don’t wanna end up making my skin worse or drying it out! My friends tell me different things, saying it’s okay, then others warn against overdoing it. So, when is too much too much? Should I stick to my current routine, or would that daily application really up the benefits? What do y’all think? Really need some advice here!!!

Yes sure you can apply it daily. It will help you clear excess oil on your face. If you get a feeling that your skin is drying up add 2-3 drops of almond oil in it and apply. You can also mix gram flour a bit of turmeric in it for glowing and healthy skin. Fix a tsp of milk once a week so that your skin doesn’t end up being too dry.

Do a patch test on your skin always if you add anything to the pack. Also do multani miti patch test… Doesn’t harm but still prevention is better

Applying multani mitti, also known as Fuller’s Earth, for oily skin is an ancient Ayurvedic practice known to help balance excess oil, or “kapha” in the skin. It’s great that you’re experiencing positive effects using it a few times a week. However, daily application? Well, that might not be the best choice for everyone.

Overuse of multani mitti can potentially lead to excessive dryness, stripping your skin of its natural oils, and affecting the “Vata” balance, leading to issues like dryness or irritation. Since you’ve noticed improvement with twice a week application, it’s generally wise to stick with that for your particular skin type.

In Ayurveda, maintaining balance is key, each skin type needs different things. For instance, those with more Kapha (oily) skin might benefit from more regular use than someone with Vata (dry) skin. With your oily skin palette, twice to thrice a week should suffice to soak up excess oil without causing dryness.

If you’re considering going for the daily routine, start noticing your skin’s response carefully. Look for signs of over drying like flakiness or tightness. These are hinting that it’s too much for you, and you’ll need to cut back. If you choose to apply daily, be sure to balance it with a lightweight moisturizer aimed at controlling oil without clogging pores, so the skin remains supple.

Additionally, make sure to prepare your multani mitti with the right ingredients. Mixing it with rose water or aloe vera gel can enhance its benefits while being gentle on the skin. Always rinse off with lukewarm water, not cold or hot, to avoid shocking your skin.

Your current routine seems helpful, it’s crucial not to compromise your skin barrier by overdoing anything. If in doubt, consult with an Ayurvedic practitioner to tailor a regimen specifically for your needs, ensuring that your skin remains healthy without going too far on one side.

Thanks so much for clarifying this! I had no idea mixing meds could be risky. I'll stick to my doctor's meds and look into Ayurveda separately.
