how to use shikakai powder for hair - #23624

Claire

I am really struggling with my hair lately, and I've heard about how to use shikakai powder for hair but honestly, I'm kinda lost. Last month, I started noticing my hair is more brittle and falling out a bit more than usual. It’s become so thin, ugh! I read somewhere that shikakai can help with hair fall and even promote growth. A friend mentioned using it like a shampoo, but I dont really know how to mix it or if I should do anything special before using it. Do I need to add something to the shikakai powder? Like do I mix it with water or something else? I’m worried about making it work since my scalp sometimes feels itchy too. Also, how often should I use it for best results? I guess I’m looking for a step-by-step or even just some guidance. I really want to bring my hair back to life! Any tips would be awesome!!! Thanks!

Oh, dealing with hair issues can truly be frustrating! Shikakai, known as “fruit for hair,” has been used in Ayurveda for centuries to nourish hair from roots to tips while reducing hair fall and promoting growth. But no worries, I’ll guide you on how to use it.

First, you’ll want to prepare a basic shikakai hair wash. For this, take about 2-3 tablespoons of shikakai powder and mix it with warm water to create a paste. You want it to be like a pancake batter, not too thick or thin, so it spreads easily on your scalp and through your hair. If your scalp is itchy, adding a teaspoon of amla powder can be beneficial – it has soothing properties and complements shikakai well.

Before applying, make sure your hair is slightly damp. Divide your hair into sections and apply the paste gently onto your scalp, working your way to the ends. Massage lightly with your fingertips to help stimulate the roots and improve blood circulation. Let it sit for about 20 minutes to let the ingredients work their magic. Rinse thoroughly with lukewarm water. You don’t want any residue left over, it might weigh down your locks.

In terms of frequency, using it once or twice a week should be sufficient. If your scalp is sensitive, once a week might be better to prevent any irritation. Over time, you should notice less hair fall and potentially improved thickness.

Regarding lifestyle, ensure your diet is nutritious and balanced, rich in proteins, and omega-3 fatty acids, to support hair health from within. Stay hydrated and reduce stress as much as possible since they can affect hair and scalp health.

Remember, if your scalp itchiness worsens or persists, it might be a sign of an underlying issue, so seeking professional advice would be wise. Sometimes, combining Ayurveda with modern treatments ensures you get the best care. Happy hair nurturing!
