does multani mitti remove facial hair - #25266

Matthew

I am dealing with this frustrating issue of facial hair and really need some advice! For a while now, I’ve noticed some fine hairs on my upper lip and chin. I tried different methods to get rid of them but nothing seems to work or it takes too long, honestly. A friend mentioned using multani mitti, and now I’m curious — does multani mitti really remove facial hair? I heard it’s good for skin, but I wonder if it can help with hair removal too. I’ve started applying a paste of multani mitti with some rosewater a couple of times a week, but I haven’t seen much change yet! Maybe I’m not using it right? Or do I need to leave it on longer? My skin's generally sensitive, like the other day it got a bit red after trying another scrub, so I’m worried that too much harsh treatment might cause irritation. Does multani mitti remove facial hair effectively, or am I chasing my tail here? Really hope to find something that works! Thanks for your help!

Multani mitti, or fuller’s earth, is indeed known for its beneficial effects on the skin, including its ability to cleanse and brighten complexion due to its absorbent properties. However, it doesn’t have any direct effect on removing facial hair. It doesn’t break down the hair follicles or roots to remove hair, unlike traditional hair removal methods like threading, waxing, or epilation. Using it primarily to remove facial hair might not give you the results you’re hoping for.

However, you can combine it with other ingredients to help with skin clarity, which might make the hair less pronounced. Sensitive skin, as you mentioned, needs particular care, so always patch test new treatments. You mentioned some redness, showing your skin’s sensitivity. So, you should monitor that closely to prevent irritation. Applying multani mitti with rosewater is soothing and good for reducing any inflammation. But bear in mind that persistent use will not result in hair removal.

If the goal is to minimize hair appearance, you might try a paste of chickpea flour (besan), turmeric (a very small pinch), and milk. This mixture is traditionally used to gently exfoliate and sometimes weaken hair follicle over time. Apply it 2-3 times a week, gently rubbing in circular motions, then rinse it off with lukewarm water.

Diet also plays a role. Excess hair growth can sometimes indicate hormonal imbalances. Therefore, consuming a balanced diet with plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables can be beneficial. Consult with a healthcare professional if you suspect hormonal issues.

When using any treatment, be mindful of how it affects your skin. If irritation appears, discontinue use. If you’re seeking a long-term solution, consider consulting a dermatologist who can offer options like laser hair removal, which is more effective for persistent hair growth issues compared to topical treatments.
